First off, AOL just disconnected me after I was sitting here typing for about 10 minutes so as a result you're getting the shortened version this time. Blame AOL. The bastards.

One thing you could do is go to a site that has anime reviews (I like animejump.com) and just starting reading through some of the reviews to see what sounds interesting. I'm always hesitant to tell someone to go out and buy something because no one knows what you like better than you.

Also, there's always BLockbuster. Although I'm also stuck in the middle of nowhere, so if your Blockbuster (if you have one) is anything like mine renting might not be much of an option.

A few things I like off the top of my head:

Trigun (STILL only have the 1st 4 eps, but it's fun stuff)

Perfect Blue (closest thing to a psyhcological thriller I've ever seen done in anime, truely different)

Outlaw Star (Yeah, I know you don't care for it but I dig it)

Master of Mosquiton (somewhat goofy vampire story. pretty funny stuff. I was surprised by how much I liked this one)

Golden Boy (very funny. Also very sexually oriented, but it's NOT hentai)

Then of course goofy fan service stuff can be fun. Just don't tell anyone I said that.
