You know, I have seen more lately an emphasis also placed on out of conference RPI. I think this bodes well for Bucknell. Why?

Let's seed or pick Bucknell versus a Major conference school for the tourney (all hypothetical)

Bucknell is 25-4. Has an RPI of 49. They have their out of conference RPI at a 7 or 8 and their League RPI at say 190.

Big 12 School 18-11. RPI of 48. Give them a couple of big wins over ranked teams in conference for arguments' sake) They played a cupcake OOC schedule with a 190 RPI (racking up most of their wins) and their in conference RPI is 14 or 15 (with a .500 record).

Who goes? I'm taking Bucknell in this scenario because I think games in December are starting to matter more for the selection committee.

Thoughts?

If we can stay close with Duke and only lose a game or two in the league, an at large bid could be in the works. And the Bracket Buster could put us over the top - if we can beat a good mid major (Northern Iowa, Indiana State, and Old Dominion come to mind) on national TV, that would be a hige boost.
I'd like to think they will sweep through 3 home games in the PL tournament of course, and not only guarentee a bid, but show the committee that we deserve a nice seed, maybe 7 or so. Hopefully that's not too much wishful thinking...

I'd prefer an 11........gives us a 6 in the first round and a 3 in the second/

joe lunardi just updated his bracketography at espn.com... he has the bison as a 9 playing oklahoma in the first round. and the best part... in philly! it would be great if we could get a first round game there.

anyway, i think worrying about getting an 11 over a 10 or 9 is pretty stupid. sure, getting to the sweet 16 would be great. but i would much rather put the team in the best possible position to win a first round game, in which they will likely be underdogs, than put them up against a better team because the NEXT game might be a bit easier.

Beg to differ........The 1's and the 2's are tough, 3's not quite as much, but the 4's and above are always vulnerable and often not properly seeded.

Thus, let's play a 5 or 6 and avoid the sure doom of the 1 in the second round.

Also, winning another first round game is great but let's shoot for the Sweet 16. Anything less is complacency.
