In reply to: Go...'gate 's message, "Tom Gadd" on 22:26:42 07/25/02 Thu

I was just following up on my post earlier in the season to see how he was doing. I'm terribly sorry to hear how difficult things have been for Coach Gadd. Thoughts and prayers are with him.

Tom Gadd is a close personal friend. He is a warrior. He is a role model. He is a leader. He is an incredible maker of men. His players graduate and go on to be great contributors to society. John Fox has worked for him. Charlie Weis has worked for him. John Pease has worked for him. Tom has worked for Jim Fassel. Most have called numerous times. His former players from Utah, South Carolina, Long Beach State and others have come to visit. They love him.

Tom battles on valiantly and will not give in. Unfortunately, he is battling his toughest opponent, virulent brain cancer. It is tough.

Bucknell's record this year is somewhat a result of the struggle the whole team is feeling. It is also a testament to how much Tom Gadd brought to the success of Bucknell football.

Thanks for your numerous messages. You can be sure that if Tom were at the helm, he would do everything in his power to compete effectively and beat Fordham this Saturday. However, without his leadership, the BU offense has been struggling big time.

Thanks for caring.

My posting didn't take, so I'll try again. Many Fordham fans/alums are very sorry to hear of the trial Tom Gadd is going through. We wish him good health and Godspeed. We know Bucknell is not the team it usually is as a big part of the spirit of the team is saddened by this situation. He is a great coach and a fine person. If Fordham should win, we will carry the banner of the PL with pride into the playoffs, knowing we represent the class that is the PL, as exemplified in the personage of Tom Gadd. We have Tom and his family in our prayers and hope the biggest win for the Bison this year is the battle Tom is fighting off the field.

Although I'll be rooting on our Rams on Saturday to earn a berth in the D-1AA playoffs , I am truly saddened to learn of Tom Gadd's plight. The significance of this game certainly takes a back seat to Coach Gadd's battle. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom Gadd during these difficult times.
