I'm not the bunny expert, but I just brought a baby home 2 weeks ago and I jumped right in and he took to it well.

Be sure it's area is setup before you get it home so you're not changing their environment a lot. They seem to be very sensitive to where they are and have a lot of new strange noises and sounds it needs to deal with so changing their cage positions (or stuff around their cage like furniture), toys etc won't help.

As for contact, it depends on the bunny I suppose. If it's very friendly it'll let you know and you can visit it often...if it seems to shy away or doesn't appear to be adjusting well, take it slower. Two of the buns I've brought home took to me and their environment quite quickly, one had a rocky background and he took a little longer to warm up. Establish a routine, buns like routine for feeding, visits, and normal surroundings and this helps with training.

Don't forget to bunny proof their run area too...I found that the clear box tape turned sticky side up keeps baby from crawling under the couch or other areas I don't want him in.

That's all I can think of off hand.
Good luck with bun :)
KarenS.
