Tyssa,

It often takes quite a bit of time to litter train a rabbit...you can try several things. First off, try to put some Timothy hay ( or alfalfa..) depending on what you feed your bun, inside the box..this may encourage your bun to use the box...and may help while litter training. My boys are litter trained and I still put hay in the box.

Also, try using more than one box while you are trying to train. While you have your bun out during exercise times, you may want to have 2-3 boxes around the room ( depending on the size of the room ).

As soon as you see your bun have an accident, you need to reinforce to your bun where the box is, place her there and put the droppings there as well. Remember, negative reinforcement usually doesn't work with rabbits. When you see her voluntarily go in the box, reward her with a treat.

Also, remember, rabbits will poop outside their box even after they are litter trained. ( some of them will ). This doesn't mean that they are being bad, its just a sign of them claiming their territory and marking it with their scent....so don't scold her for the odd dropping here or there....its mainly the pee that you should worry about in the beginning.

So, first things first...try to encourage peeing in the box..and just vacuum the poop up in the beginning. Once you have her peeing in the box, then you can try to encourage her pooping in the box as well ( this usually comes later )..as rabbits cannot control their pooping easier than they can control their peeing....

The hay thing helps as well...

Also try to limit her space initially when you are trying to train her. The larger of a room she has to run in, the more likely it is she'll forget where her box is. So, try with a small room initially when you are trying to train her. Also, its very important to show her where her box is right when she pees and not 10 minutes later....it just doesn't sink in then.....

Hope this helps...And remember, it doesn't happen over night...but any rabbit can be litter-trained...just have patience :)
