I've always had my bunnies on a solid floor cage with litter on the bottom. They weren't litter box trained until just recently though, so it made for a huge mess to clean (don't ask me what took so long to get into the box training). In my un-expert opinion though, if you're going to litter box them, why have the wire bottom cage? I have 2 buns in a large cage with a plastic solid floor made for small animals (harder to tear up) with a blankie in the corner for them to lay on and a litter box in the other corner using the CareFresh recycled newspaper (which is a godsend in itself over litter). I don't have to clean up much of a mess at all...maybe some excees food that got on the floor or dirt that stuck to their fur coming out of the box, nothing that a ordinary dust pan can't pick up easy. Anyway, that's my setup.

I have a bun that started out kinda rocky too. He was from a rabbit farm and almost died from mis-care from his previous owners (along with the 6 others those awful people had die on them). Anyway, it took him a bit to come around, but he got there :)

Good luck!!
KarenS
