LOL...You can assure your family you know have a pharmacist's opinion on the matter and not just some "bunny people's" opinions. Impetigo is a skin infection caused by Staph Aureus or Streptococcus bacteria that can be found on many types of animals..usually in the nails. They can pick up the bacteria from the feces ( sometimes...) or even from being outside, from other animals, etc. Rabbits aren't prone to getting these bacteria that cause the impetigo infections; cats and dogs can carry the bacteria just the same. However, it is really rare that an animal would transfer the bacteria. Usually children are more likely to transfer the bacteria between one another usually through the sharing of towels an linens. And we see the infections more in children than we do in adults as well. Hope this has helped and will clear up all that confusion.

:) And, I would suggest going ahead and getting a bunny..I have two and I can assure you in the past 3 years, I've never gotten impetigo :)
