another thing to remember is that in html there is no "white space" when writing the code you could put half a million hits of the space bar between one word and the next ... but when it's shown there is no space between them... except for the one necessary to space the words apart... so if you want to indent... or have spacing... you use the pre tag.... remember.... it will appear EXCATLY as you type it.
