Chapter 20

Genesis 20:1-2 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. 2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

Abraham leaves Mamre (18:1) and heads south to the area around Gerar. Probably due to the size of his herds of livestock he is in danger of overgrazing the area so heads south to the area around Gerar which is well watered. Abimelech, is the King of Gerar and appears to be an honorable man. Abraham, ever the loving husband, decides to use the same deception he used with Pharaoh in Gen. 12.

A couple of things stand out about this whole bit where Abraham is passing his wife off as his sister. First Sarah must have been a "knock-out". I mean how many men would be chasing an 80 something year old woman? This gal must have aged well. God has blessed her immensely and evidently endowed her well. It appears that every where Abe travels he has to consider how desirable his wife is to other men and if there is reason to fear because of it Abe just decides to give up his wife for his own safety. It evidently runs in the family because son Isaac tries the same stunt in Genesis 26:6-12.

Actions such as this were never ordained nor condoned by God which brings us to the second point in these verses. The treatment of women by people of the east is despicable. Think back to Lot willing to give his daughters to satiate the sexual appetite of a depraved disgusting group of men that desired other men. In Judges 19 a Levite gave his concubine to be abused and misused rather than be sexually abused by sodomites. The man of the house he was visiting was willing to also give his daughter. I read just last week or so of a 50 year old man who took an 8 year old girl to be his wife!! What kind of people can treat women and girls this way. To these types of people the female is for pleasure and slavery. They are to do their bidding without complaint or disobedience.

How many times have we seen in the last few years the honor killings because a girl did not want to marry a man whom her father had entered into a contract with the prospective husband or his family. When a woman or girl is raped she not only is shamed and dishonored but is likely to be killed because she must have done something to invite the rape. Is it any wonder that the Arabs and Muslims in general still live in the dark ages. Mohammed married a 13 year old girl to add to his other wives. Under Islam the female has almost no rights at all and this is the kind of people that are being allowed to settle all over the western world.

Abraham may have been chosen of God and may have had God's favor in a lot of things but this was not one of them. Thankfully the Hebrews rose above this behavior over time. They may still have arranged marriages but the day of the concubine and many wives is apparently over. Also the women of Jewry today enjoy much more freedom than in past ages. You do not hear of honor killings among Jews. By the time of Solomon we know that upright and virtuous women were honored. To see how they were thought of just read Proverbs 31:10-31. This from a man who had 700 wives and 300 concubines. He must have had trouble finding the perfect wife!

To get an idea of idea of how much the relationship had changed from Abraham's time unto the New Testament times you have only to look to Paul's writings on marriage. In Ephesians Paul wrote: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it" ( Ephesians 5:25). Contrast that with Abraham, Lot and Isaac's actions.

God said in Malachi 3:6 "For I am the LORD, I change not". If God wanted men to love their wives and be willing to die for them in the New Testament He also wanted the men of the Old Testament to be that way. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Abraham was no exception.

Here in America Sharia law is slowly creeping in and most American officials are turning their backs on it because they don't want to be accused of discriminating against the Muslem religion. Good God Almighty!!! Sharia law is anti-religion. It is all about debasing and subduing women and keeping them as chattel. America had better speak up now before it becomes so entrenched there will be no turning back.

and with a closet Muslim in the Oval Office it can only get worse.

The U.S. has become an insane asylum with the inmates running the show.

it is possible to see courts prosecuting any people of faith from speaking out against homosexuality, abortion, fetal stem-cell experimentation, and a host of other issues not deemed politically correct.

And when you point this out to people they say you are hysterical or suffer from an overactive imagination. I only wish that were true.

Not only is Sharia gradually creeping into U.S. society as it has already done in Europe but homosexuality is on the rise and now, good grief, there's talk of triad marriages. Truly the U.S. is on a downward slippery slope into deviancy and loss of it's superpower status.
