Your mention of 1 Chronicles (I call it the book of begats) reminded me of 1 Chronicles 4:10 and Bruce Wilkinson's little book called "The Prayer of Jabez" which garnered a lot of attention a few years ago. I found it very interesting that Jabez' prayer came smack dab in the middle of all those begats.
