Job 7:1 Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling?

Lying in bed as a young boy at my grandmother's old log and wood house I would often hear sounds in the night that would keep me awake. There was this one particular sound that I would hear every night. "TICK, TICK, TICK, TICK-----" with an incessant regularity. I would be caught up listening to the ticking sound until finally sleep would overtake but it was only after a seeming long time. I mentioned the sound I was hearing to my grandmother and she said it was a deathwatch beetle. What's that I asked? It means someone is dying. The ticks are counting down the time until they die.

While we may not have a deathwatch beetle ticking off the moments left in our life we can rest assured those moments are being counted off. Each of us has an appointed time and we have no idea how many more "ticks" are left to us. The important thing is what are we doing with our ticks? TICK, TICK, TICK. In the time it has taken to read these few words a few more of our ticks have slipped away. Time stops for no one nor does it even slow down' TICK, TICK, TICK, TICK. Are we aware of how fast tht ticks are going? How are we spending our allotted time? Are we using time wisely? Are we bringing honor and glory to our Saviour in this time? TICK, TICK, TICK and a few more have slipped away.

Ephesians 5:15-17 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. What is the will of the Lord for us? Have we asked Him. Are we concerned as to whether we are spending His time wisely? TICK, TICK, TICK TICK-----. Time is still moving isn't it.

Have you wandered a lot on life's pathway
Have you lived without love a life of tears
Have you searched for a great higher meaning
Or is your life filled with long wasted years
(from the song wasted years by Red Foley)

You might be thinking within yourself; "What can I do to redeem what time I have left"? You think "I would like to be profitable to my Lord" and yet you realize that much of your life has been spent foolishly and has been totally unprofitable to God. You hear within your mind that ominous TICK, TICK, TICK and you realize you don't have as much time in front of you as you have behind you.

Are you living a life that God can use? Is your life before others such as they can look at you and see from the way you live and talk that you are a Christian? If not you must bring your life before God and get things corrected and lined up with His will before you can become profitable to Him. Time is moving. Every moment we waste is gone forever. May God help us all to redeem the time for Him. He certainly is worth it.

Psalms 71:18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

TICK, TICK, TICK, TICK-----------------
