Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children;---

It is amazing at how God has put together His Holy Word so that things that seem fairly simple and straight forward picture great truths of the plan of God. Eve had sinned and she must pay the price. A curse had been brought into the world through her gullibility before Satan. She had eaten the forbidden fruit and enticed Adam to partake with her. As a result she was to have great trouble, difficulty and pain in her child bearing. Instead of being a wonderful joyous occasion the ordeal of childbearing would be very bothersome and painful. Joy would not happen until after the event. John 16:21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

A few days back I was listening to the preachers sermon and something he said (I don't even recall now what he said) started me to thinking about child birth. Child birth is something God intended from the beginning. In Genesis 1:28 God commanded the man and woman to "be fruitful and multiply" so without a doubt this was God's plan from the beginning. He could have made a world full of people as easily as He first created Adam and then "cloned" Eve from Adam's rib. God never intended for children to be brought forth in anguish and pain to the mother. Sin brought the pain. As I meditated on God's plan I saw a picture that had been before me many times but I was blind to.

It was if God was telling me to "Wake up and smell the coffee, I'm showing you something." A verse of scripture came to mind: Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed,---

Just as a woman must endure great grief and pain in the birthing of her children the "birthing" of the children of God must be through great pain and cost to our Lord. Sin cost the woman dearly and it cost our Lord dearly. The child may be stressed and feel pressure and anguish (I don't really know because I don't remember my birth) but the child does not feel the pain of the birth that the mother does.

When I was born spiritually (born again) I felt trouble in soul and had a lot of stress on me becasue God had placed His call to repentance on me. I did not feel what my Lord felt. . Jesus saw His spiritual offspring when being crucified and he knew that when it was over it would be worth it. Ladies, is that not what you felt after your children were born. Was there not joy in your heart when you looked on that precious little one? Now think of what Jesus felt after His pain was over and His children were being born into the kingdom. Luke 15:7 "I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance."

If there is joy in heaven over a sinner repenting and getting saved just think what it means to Jesus who endured the pain that we might have life everlasting.

Sometimes just a little seed in our minds can be fed and waterd, and then burst forth in a great conclusion. We don't always see what God puts before us like that. Aren't you glad you had that insight? Thanks for sharing it with us. It makes perfect sense. 8-)
