I went to see my doctor today and my weight is down to 256. Three months ago it was at 272. My doctor is very happy and so am I. I am hoping to get down to under 200.

Congratulations,

This is something that is very difficult but worth while.

I weigh in at between 225 and 230 and my goal also this summer is to hit 200.

I have found it is fairly easy to lose weight for a time but is is extremely difficult to keep it off for extended periods of time. It takes great self control. I hope you succeed.

It has been a long battle to get it down this far. It is the lowest that I have been in many a year, There have been periods that I have dropped as little as three to five pounds and some where I have lost as many as twenty. When I have reached this point I take amything as a victory. Three months ago I was so surprised when I dropped from 298 down to 272. I even asked the nurse who was doing it if the scale was right. She smiled and said, "Hey this place is operated by UMASS. It better be right." I didn't even dispute the scale this time. I'll let you know in June how I do next time.

I'm also in need of dropping a lot of weight. Will shoot for 20 for starters.

The most interesting part of this is that I started out weighing between 310 and 330.

Taking off the weight slowly is the most successful way to keep it off. Wishing you continued success!!!
Hope you and Pat have a Blessed Easter with Amanda and the boys.

We had the boys last weekend so we celebrated Easter then. Amanda needed a job so she applied at the local Denny's where she worked before and got hired. The only problem is that she has to work on Sunday morning every week. No church attendance for her. The older boys are living with his mother and sister so I guess that it is Easter bunnys and colored eggs for them. They are non-practicing Catholics who only got to church for weddings and funerals. How sad. We have little Eli with us but at a year and a half he is much too young. I'm going to try and go by myself. Pat had surgery on a broken ankle and can't climb stairs so she can't go this year. As far as losing slowly we have a friend in Florida who tells me continually that I need to take it off more quickly. You can't win with some people.

We all are fast to give others advice, but slow to follow our own. Happy Easter, even though you won't be able to go to services. Just bring Jesus to your house with the Word!

In Newfoundland we called them "sprinkler christians." They go to church three times a year. The first time to be sprinkled with water, the second time to be sprinkled with confetti, and the third time to be sprinkled with dirt.

As for losing weight the best thing I found was walking. There's a park near me that has a walking track that is one mile around and the distance marked and also some exercise equipment to loosen up your joints. Before I had cancer and my bout with chemo, I used to go there every morning. I started off walking to the one-quarter mile mark and back, then increased it to the half-mile marker and so on until I was up to waking around the track three times (3 miles) then disaster hit; however, dumb me (or lazy me whatever) I haven't started back. Just bought me some new walking shoes and plan (ahem) to start again Monday morning. Pray for me.

I'm going to start walking with a stroller in a few weeks, when the weather gets better. Pray for me, too, okay?
