Psalms 73:28 But it is good for me to draw near to God:---

Sometimes I think a lot of Christians think they are doing God a favor by trying to draw near to God. This tyhpe of thinking places us on the pedestal and God at our feet as a beggar. We should all get something straight when it comes to the relationship of God with man. We desperately need God and God can make it just fine without us!

This does not minimize the desire that God has for us to draw close to Him and seek His face. God desires our praise and worship adn we owe it to Him but He is not going to beg us and He is not going to change how He does things for our worship. The Psalmist said "it is good for me to draw near to God". He realized who benefited from a right relationship.

When we move away from God and lose that close and right relationship with Him it is up to us to get that relationship restored. James wrote: "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded." (James 4:8) Notice James puts the onus on us to restore the relationship. Isaiah wrote in Isaiah 59:2 "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear." It was our sins and attitude that built the wall of separation between us and God and it is up to us to tear it down. James give the recipe. Quit sinning and get your heart right! There must be repentance and then and only then can we expect God to let us back in His wonderful presence where we can find peace once again. There is no peace of mind when we are not in fellowship with God.

Thank you. I have a very close personal relationship with God. I call Him my Father and He calls me his son (by adoption). That is about as close as you can get.

I too am His son and He my Father in heaven. The trouble I find is that just as I disappointed my earthly father at times I also have done so with my heavenly Father. When that happens I know it and the closeness we should have is broken. It is up to me to restore that closeness.

David found himself with sin between him and his heavenly Father and had to plead with God in Psalms 51:12, "Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit."

This is where I find myself from time to time and when I do I, as David, must ask God humbly to restore that joy I had with Him that our closeness might be what it was before I transgressed.

Took me awhile to get here to read it because I was away in Indianapolis this past weekend enjoying Gabe's 9th birthday party. Happy birthday to your sweet twins! 8-)

I need to read this study every day to make sure I'm in the right place where God wants me. Thanks, HB!

We had the twins birthday party Sat. the 13th. Their birthday was on the 14th.

I'm sure Gabe enjoyed it and I know all the family did.
