Genesis 45:17-28 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto thy brethren, This do ye; lade your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan; 18 And take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eat the fat of the land. 19 Now thou art commanded, this do ye; take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come. 20 Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours. 21 And the children of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way. 22 To all of them he gave each man changes of raiment; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of raiment. 23 And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and meat for his father by the way. 24 So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that ye fall not out by the way. 25 And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father, 26 And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob's heart fainted, for he believed them not. 27 And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived: 28 And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die.

This passage definitely foreshadows the coming kingdom. Egypt is a type of the world and Joseph is told to relate these words to his brethren; "regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours". Joseph as a type of Jesus relates what Pharaoh (a type of the Father) tells him. John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Joseph and his brothers are now reconciled to each other and Joseph relates all the good news Pharaoh tells him. It is in type about inheriting the promises that go all the way back to Abraham. All this is a foreshadowing of the fulfillment of those promises concerning inheritance. Israel is to feed and live off of the Gentiles. Isaiah 61:6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.

This being enriched by Egypt will play out again when God through Moses leads Israel out of Egypt. Exodus 12:35-36 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: 36 And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.

"And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and meat for his father by the way". Food "and the good things of Egypt" Twenty asses laden with the finest of Egypt. Quite a haul and all because God blessed them because of His promise to Abraham so many years ago.

The eleven brothers set their faces northward toward Canaan with the admonition from Joseph "See that ye fall not out by the way." Joseph knew his brothers well and knew there would be much "discussion" about how they were going to tell "daddy" who was ruling Egypt. They knew the question would arise as to how Joseph got there in the first place and there would be the possibility of "it was all your fault" coming up in the discussion. Words lead to fights and Joseph knew what could easily happen.

The boys arrive and daddy nearly faints at the news. Disbelief is the first instinct but he couldn't argue with what his eyes were seeing. All those carts and donkeys laden to the hilt with goods and food from Egypt.

"And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die." God truly works in mysterious ways and who can but wonder at the method God chose to get Israel into Egypt. From the time of the prophecy to Abraham in Genesis 15:13 (see also Gal. 3:17) until the fulfilling of the prophecy was 400 plus years. God is not slack concerning His promises (2 Pet. 3:9) and even though it will be more than two more centuries God will surely lead them out.

We get impatient many times with God and wonder why He is taking so long to fulfill what He has decreed concerning His people. Many people mock us today and say "Where is the promise of his coming? " They say "you Christians keep telling us the Lord is coming soon. Well where is He?" All we that believe can tell them is that He is coming in His own time and you had better be ready. There is no telling how many Jews quit believing God would bring them out from under their bondage. Generation after generation had passed and they kept saying "God is going to deliver us." Jacob gave up looking for his son to return yet here he was going to see him again face to face. As the father said of the prodigal; "For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry."

We should never give up on God!

We should never give up on God and also be grateful He never gives up on us! He may chasten but as a Father does his child.

Just as we sometimes were disobedient to our own parents we never quit being their children. We earned and got chastening many times but we still loved them and they loved us.

So it is with our Father in Heaven. If we have becime His child we will always be His child and He will never leave us not forsake us. His love is everlasting.
