2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

1 Corinthians 3:10-15 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

What must be seen is that the foundation is laid by Paul and the foundation is Jesus Christ. It is Paul that laid the foundational doctrine of the Church. We find these mainly in Paul's letters to the seven churches he wrote to. They started with Romans and ended with 2 Thess. Notice in the passage in 1 Cor. how that the works of wood, hay and stubble are burned but the worker is saved "so as by fire"

Paul claims the gospel given to him by Jesus Christ was "his gospel". Romans 2:14-16 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) 16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. (see also Romans 16:25 and 2 Tim. 2:8)

We understand then by these passages and others that there are people who are judged who do not have to fear loss of salvation but loss of reward. This is important to understand because most believe as you mention the judgment separates the sheep from the goats which is true if you are talking about that judgment.

Hope this helps and if you would like more or clarification I will see what I can do.

God bless,
Dwight

Thank you Hillbilly - This was very helpful. Do you think we can judge ourselves? I mean a serious Christian would Want to have works of gold and silver. Can we tell if that is what we have? I guess it comes down to spending your time on what matters and deciding what Does matter and what does not.

1 Corinthians 11:31-32 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Self judgment is looking at our thoughts and actions in light of what God's Word plainly tells us. It is depending on the Holy Spirit within to guide us into all truths. (John 16:13)

We notice in 1 Cor. vs. 32 above we have the chastening of the Lord as our judgment and we are not condemned with the world which is lost and without the Spirit of God.

Self judgment then is essential for the Christian walk. We must reflect on our thoughts and actions in light of what the Bible tells us.

One of my favorite verses in this regard is Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. The lamp is the lesser light and shows your immediate circumstance. It lights your feet and shows you just where you are standing from God's vantage point. The light shines on down the path and directs you to the right path before you get into trouble. It will illuminate your path and tell you which fork in the road to take.
