Thank you Hillbilly - This was very helpful. Do you think we can judge ourselves? I mean a serious Christian would Want to have works of gold and silver. Can we tell if that is what we have? I guess it comes down to spending your time on what matters and deciding what Does matter and what does not.

1 Corinthians 11:31-32 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Self judgment is looking at our thoughts and actions in light of what God's Word plainly tells us. It is depending on the Holy Spirit within to guide us into all truths. (John 16:13)

We notice in 1 Cor. vs. 32 above we have the chastening of the Lord as our judgment and we are not condemned with the world which is lost and without the Spirit of God.

Self judgment then is essential for the Christian walk. We must reflect on our thoughts and actions in light of what the Bible tells us.

One of my favorite verses in this regard is Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. The lamp is the lesser light and shows your immediate circumstance. It lights your feet and shows you just where you are standing from God's vantage point. The light shines on down the path and directs you to the right path before you get into trouble. It will illuminate your path and tell you which fork in the road to take.
