RE: "Our life here on earth will always be one of ups and downs. Maybe not to the extremes Joseph experienced but to each of us, every time we bottom out, it is a personal crises and every time we hit the top our joy knows no bounds and we feel like nothing can stop us now. Such is the way that is common to man."

So very true, my friend. The study of the life of Joseph is very inspiring. Thank you.

Character is built in the fires of affliction. Job is the paramount example of one who grew immensely from the things he suffered. One of my favorite passages in the Bible is Job 23:8-10 Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: 9 On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him: 10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

We may not see God working and may think at times he has deserted us but we as Job can come forth as gold if we will but remain faithful through our tough times.

Almost messed up however. The preacher was to baptize a young girl after the morning service and I was told two weeks ago she was going to be baptized. It takes 3 hours to fill the baptistry and probably 6 hours for the water to warm with the heater on. I forgot yesterday and I guess the Lord reminded me this morning. I awoke around 6:00 a.m. and suddenly it popped in my mind that I had not filled the baptistry.

Needless to say in a panic rush I headed over to the Church and started the water. 2 hours later I turned the heat on and while the baptistry was full it was not warm.

Oh well. One of the deacons and the girls daddy both told me they almost called me yesterday to check on the baptistry but both decieded not to call.

I told both of them it was the Lord telling them to call me and they didn't so it was all their fault. (grin)

Hope your day is pleasant and peaceful in the Lord.

That's a good story. Twenty years ago when I was saved during a visit from one of the deacons in the afternoon after the morning service I decided that I should be baptised at the evening service. The Pastor was not expcting it but went along with it. The water was cold because the heater was turned off between uses. Cold water or not I got dunkd and enjoyed it very much.
