CHAPTER 45

Genesis 45:1-5 Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren. 2 And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard. 3 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence. 4 And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. 5 Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.

Forget Joseph and his brothers for a moment. Think back at the times that the life of Joseph has foretold events in the life of Jesus. Think of Jesus and Israel for the time being. Joseph represents Jesus and the 11 brothers represent Israel. The Israel that hated and betrayed Jesus and sold Him into the hands of the rulers of Israel for 30 pieces of silver. "Thirty pieces of silver was the price they gave,. thirty pieces of silver, just the price of a slave". That is some words to an old hymn. While Joseph brought twenty pieces of silver, the picture is still there. Jesus was with Israel until His betrayal and crucifixion as Joseph was with his brothers. Jesus appeared to Israel after His resurrection. Joseph has appeared to his brothers and they knew him not. Joseph is before his brothers a second time and they still don't know him until---. It is this "until" moment we want to look at. "Cause every man to go out from me." This was the command and the result was "there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren" Just Joseph and his brothers and as the life is a prophecy there will come a time when it will be just Jesus and his brethren according to the flesh, Israel. This is one of the greatest hidden mysteries in the Bible.

For nearly 2,000 years men have been saying that God is done with the Jews. He washed His hands of them and Israel is but and outcast and cut off without hope. The Apostle Paul did not think so and he wrote in Romans 11:26-28 "And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. 28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes."

Do we see it? Israel is to be saved. "All Israel"!. When will it happen? During a 7 year long time of trouble. The tribulation is 7 years long. It is called Daniel's 70th week. (Dan. 9:24) Jeremiah has this to say: Jeremiah 30:7-11 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. 8 For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him: 9 But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them. 10 Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid. 11 For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

We see from the above scripture "that day" refers to a specific time. It is called "Jacob's trouble" and as we have seen Jacob's name was changed to Israel. It will be during this time that Jesus will reveal himself to the remnant of Israel. Ezekiel 20:33-38 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you: 34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. 35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. 36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD. 37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant: 38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Israel,, face to face with God and when it is done they will believe!. Where will this face to face meeting take place? In the wilderness. This is where God dealt with the people of Israel in the Exodus. Whether it sill be in the same spot remains to be seen but many believe that it will not be at Mt. Sinai in Saudi Arabia but in the desert area of southern Israel around the Dead Sea area. There are ruins of a city there called "Sela Petra" and it is in a narrow gorge that is easily defended. It is here that many believe Israel will flee during the tribulation period.

In the book of Revelation we have scripture that shows Israel fleeing to the wilderness during this time. Revelation 12:1-17 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: (Lay this verse with Genesis 37:9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. This is one of Joseph's dreams and the only difference in what is seen is 11 stars instead of 12. Joseph is the 12th) 2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. 3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. (see Matt. 2:11-18) 5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. (see Acts 1:9-11) 6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. 7 And there was war in heaven: (star wars) Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. 13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. 14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. (Probably aircraft to ferry the chosen to the secret place in the desert) 15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. (just as God destroyed Pharaoh with water Satan will try to destroy fleeing Israel with water) 16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

It is amazing as to the details repeating in revelation the events in type that were played out thousands of years earlier. Abraham went into Egypt and came out. Isaac went into Egypt and came out. Israel went into Egypt under Joseph and came out under Moses. God told Joseph to take Jesus into Egypt until Herod was dead and then Jesus was brought out and carried into Galilee. Over and over in type we see prophesied the event of the deliverance of Israel and at this last deliverance Jesus will say "I am Jesus whom you persecuted" (Acts 9:5) Just as Joseph appeared alone with his brothers and said "I am Joseph whom you sold".

The brothers of Joseph could not dispute the evidence and Israel will not be able to dispute the evidence. Zechariah 13:6-9 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends. 7 Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones. 8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. 9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

Israel will have their face to face conversion and this is a type of what must happen to all whom come to Jesus. We may not see Him face to face but He has to come to us through His Spirit and call us unto Himself and we must accept that call. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

The Father, through the Holy Spirit, must draw us to Jesus and when we believe on the testimony of the Spirit and call on Jesus for our salvation then and only then are we converted and able to go to our Father in Heaven. This is God's way and method and there is no other way. We must receive Jesus by believing on the testimony of the Spirit of God. We here the word or read the word and the Holy Ghost takes that word and convicts and convinces us that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God that died for our sins. We believe that and accept that from our heart (Rom. 10:10) and not our head and the Spirit of God will come in and regenerate us into spiritual sons of God.

Joseph's brothers could not deny. Israel one day will not be able to deny. God help mankind not to deny the only way of salvation and that is through the faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

I still can't believe how very little of this even filtered into my brain as I read Genesis any times through the years. You make it all so clear. Thank you for the time spent in laying it all out. I was very blessed by the message.

this study. The Old Testament, especially Genesis and Exodus is full of typology that points to New Testament events and truths. When one starts seeing these fore shadowings it reinforces the belief that God did not leave His Holy Word to men but first inspired His chosen men to write and then He protected and preserved His Word down through the ages so we could have it today. Perfect and without error.

It makes you wonder what God's chosen writers and communicators thought as they recorded things even THEY didn't understand.
