Daniel 11:36-45 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. 37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all. 38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. 39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain. 40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. 41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps. 44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. 45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

We have come full circle. We started in Babylon with the head of gold in chapter 2 of Daniel and now we come to "MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. " (Rev. 17:5). As we began in chapter 11 with Syria and Egypt (king of the north and king of the south) the narrative went from the conflicts in about 300 B.C. on to the time of Christ and the Roman Empire we saw the kings changed and conquests changed but the focus was on the wars between the "king of the north and the king of the south.. As we arrived at Rome and the time of Christ we could identify the "raiser of taxes" and some the characters setting the stage for the final events. These events focus on the works of the anti-Christ and the time jumps from the time of Christ to the time of the anti-Christ. There are several traits found in these last 10 verses which match the beast of revelation to a tee. Many call him the "willful king" because he "shall do according to his will" (vs 36) This king, as the seed of Satan, will attempt to fulfill the desires that brought about Satan's (i.e. Lucifer's) fall from heaven.. Isaiah 14:13-14 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Again going back to verse 36 we read: "he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods". This truly is the seed of Satan. and he will succeed marvelously, up to a point. and "shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished:". 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. This passage from 2 Thessalonians sums up the indignation that must be accomplished.

The accounts match and Daniel is exposing the "son of perdition" just as Paul is. This is the "white horse rider" of Revelation 6:2 who by "by peace shall destroy many: " (Dan. 8:25)

In verses 37 and 38 we see attributes that seem to suggest the possibility the religion of this man is Muslim. He honors "a god whom his fathers knew not " (Islam is a late religion) and it is "the god of forces". This god of forces is a relatively new god because it is unknown then and possibly even now. He is called "a strange god" and verse 37 tells us "Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all."

Possibly he will be whom the Muslim's call the "Mahdi" or "12th Imam" who is their "Messiah". There will be no regard for the God of his fathers w;ho in times past was Jehovah. In a recent interview Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had this to say of the 12th Imam: "What is being said about an apocalyptic war and – global war, things of that nature. This is what the Zionists are claiming. Imam…will come with logic, with culture, with science. He will come so that there is no more war. No more enmity, hatred. No more conflict. He will call on everyone to enter a brotherly love. Of course, he will return with Jesus Christ. (this would be the beast and the false prophet of Revelation 16:13) The two will come back together. And working together, they would fill this world with love. The stories that have been disseminated around the world about extensive war, apocalyptic wars, so on and so forth, these are false." By looking at the quote and knowing the violent nature and history of Islam we can easily see that he "by peace shall destroy many". Considering the bloody nature of Islam and the calling of Islam "the religion of peace" we can see the subtilty of that phrase. Found on many a tombstone are the words "REST IN PEACE".

There also will be no regard for the "desire of women". In Islam women are treated as property and have very little rights. They have no input into decisions and are kept ignorant and uneducated. Another distinct possibility is that he is homosexual. There is much homosexuality in Islam especially in Afghanistan.

Ultimately according to verse 37 his real god in his mind will be himself because "he shall magnify himself above all". Self worship! He will evidently take narcism to a new level While worshipping himself he will honor the god of power. The narrative here from verse 39 returns to conquest through war. We see the main thrust of all this conquest remains in the middle east and nearly all of the middle east will fall to this conqueror. Interestingly there are three peoples named who will escape this end time warfare and all are in present day Jordan.. The Edomites, Moabites and Ammonites. The Edomites are the descendants of Esau (Gen. 36:7) the brother of Jacob. The Moabites and the Ammonites are the descendants of Lot's children by his daughters (Gen. 19:37-38). The Ammonites are Jordanians (the city of Amman is the capital of Jordan today) and the Moabites may well be considered the same as Moab was located in the southern part of what is now Jordan The Edomites settled Just east of the Dead Sea and in the area of Mt. Seir. All three of these area are just to the east of Israel and cover their eastern border from the north to the south. In the area just south and the dead sea is where it is believed Israel will flee during the Great Tribulation. in Revelation 12:14. This area is called "Petra" or "Sela" which means rock and is actually within the physical boundaries of Jordan today. This area escaping the battles makes sense especially if this is where Israel flees to escape during the last battles.

Verse 43 tells us of his control over the monetary system and will control all of northern Africa. Note the unrest and rebellion in this area today. The stage is being set for the completion of these prophecies.

Verse 45 tells us of his success in his conquest and that he shall "plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him." The seas would be the Mediterranean and Arabian seas. I would assume the "glorious holy mountain is the temple mount where God set up his residency in the days of Solomon. This will be the last "success" for the anti-Christ for when hd does this he has set the final abomination of desolation and this will signal the return of the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS and "he shall come to his end, and none shall help him." The taking
of the anti-Christ will be short and sweet.

Revelation 19:19-21 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. 20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

So much great information, HB! I think you may be right about the Muslim faith spawning the anti-Christ. It's a fascinating theory, born out in scripture many long years ago.

these prophecies were written at the very least 4 centuries before the birth of Christ.

They came true in there historic sense up to and through the birth of Christ.

What remains is the completion of all the prophecies through the soon to appear anti-Christ and the tribulation.

It is fascinating how thing are lining up perfectly for the last curtain in this drama.

To someone like you, who has studied and lived the scriptures for decades, it is exciting to see it falling into place. I see it as a sad result to numerous warnings--BUT with a happy ending eventually... grin.
