I am one that believes that Eden was in Israel. Adam was barred from the Garden of Eden and the angel with the flaming sword was on the east side of Eden (Gen. 3:24). Cain went eastward (Gen. 4:16)

Israel is God's chosen land not Babylon. Babylon has always been associated with evil. Eden has always been paradise. Why would God choose to place his Garden in a place that was so corrupted from the beginning and all those who rebelled against God went in the direction to the east.

Mesopotamia has been identified as the cradle of civilization and well it may be but if you think about it the beginnings of so called civilization with cities and such would have been where the outcasts would have landed after being driven eastward from the garden.

As to all the other claims in the list I would certainly say that some are true but some are false. The boundaries between Babylon and Persia are blurred this many thousands of years down the halls of time. Nineveh may have been at times Babylonian but it was also Syrian at other times.

Places and names blurred through history so I don't put this list as concrete at all.

One of my pet theories is that the cross was placed in the exact same spot as the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Think about it. A serpent in the tree. A man who represented a serpent (Num. 21:7-9 with 2 Cor. 5:21)was hung on the cross which was a tree (Gal. 3:13).

When Abraham took Isaac to sacrifice him he went to the exact spot God chose and it was on a mountain of Moriah (Gen.22:2). Jerusalem is on a mountain of Moriah.

I believe Jerusalem was part of the Garden of Eden and Gethsemane was possibly where God would go walking in the cool of the evening.

Whether this scenario is true or not I would have a great deal of trouble believing the Garden of Eden was in Iraq.
