I find this study of the Book of Daniel fascinating. I've mentioned before that before. Correct me if I'm wrong but the seventy weeks (or 490) years which God decreed against the Jews was put on hold at the end of 483 years with the birth of Christ and the ushering in of the Church Age and the 70th week (the tribulation period) won't begin until after Christ raptures the Church which are His people.

It wasn't the birth but the triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and the subsequent "cutting off" (Dan. 9:26). The rejection of Jesus which led to His crucifixion and then the resurrection which heralded the Church age all mark the end of the 483 years.

The 70th week will be after the rapture. It will be concurrent with the tribulation. This tribulation period marks the end of the "times of the Gentiles" which started in Daniel 2. This was what Nebuchadnezzar's dream actually depicted. Notice it stands until the "Stone" which was cut out of the mountain without hands smashes the statue on it's feet. The statue stood for all the kingdoms of the Gentiles until Jesus restores the Kingdom to Israel.

Hope this makes it more clear.
