She's been without power for a couple of days and they don't know how soon it will come back on. They were hit pretty hard by that Nor'easter. She wrote the note to me on her phone and said she'll write back on Thursday. Everyone, please keep her, her family and all those in the northeast in your prayers, please. Thank you!

way to many times. Being without power is almost like being crippled up. Funny thing is you will nearly wear the light switches out even though you know the power is out.

I pray the power will be restored soon.

I will be playing catchup tomorrow here at my home site. Wedding is over and I'm on spring break. Unfortunately, I had to bring work home and it kept me pretty busy today. Tomorrow I should have only a couple of hours left to do, hopefully. 8-)
Hurry back to us, Julie!

I am back !

As above about 15 minutes ago . Sick with a cold --but happy as a can be .

My daughter said to me , " Mom , power outs are fun for about 15-20 minutes . That's about it . "

What a storm --and really not much of an announcement of it form the weather service --they reported winds and heavy rain for two days - but the words Noreaster and Hurricane were absent until the day after.

Good to see the lights back on and great to say good-bye to the storm clouds .

Now we have three days of sunshine and 60 degreee weather.

How strange the weather has been over the past few months.

Hope everyone is well here .

God bless you always,

Julie

Know what you mean about being without electric. As we were without for about 7 days last year when we had that ice storm. And living close to town, ours was turned on sooner than many of those that live way out in the remote areas. Even Harrison was out of electric for several days, many of the stores closed during that time. We do have a fire place, so was a lot better off than many for sure. Had fun roasting hot dogs and marshmallows in the fire place at least.

Good to see you back, and doing pretty good, other than having a cold.

Dori, did you get my pics of the animals I sent? If not, let me know, and I will try to find them, and send them again.

luv ya Sandy

Funny how much we miss those little modern conveniences. I've been through 3 hurricanes in all electric houses. I remember in 1983 once we ran out of stored water we had to haul water from nearby businesses. But it teaches you how to survive and to be as prepared as you can afford to be!
Bless you, Julie. You're a survivor! :-)

There were some fun times in the experience -as stressful as it was --- we had fish in the freezer and my husband was determined to cook it -- he lit a candelabra and got busy on the gas stove cooking us flounder and rice - it came out delicious . The rest of the food - I had to throw out .

We made fires in the fireplace and slept on the pull out bed from the living room couch -- it was nice to cuddle with my kids - we read together with our battery operated book lights --listened to the emergency radio --and my husband entertained us with his guitar playing.

Everytime a power line /pole was affected the nightsky lit up blue or green ---it was like the Aurora Borealis came to Long Island.

Marge ,it was good to have battery operated appliances - this was definitely helpful . We have water. My husband loves to shop . If shopping were up to me - we wouldn't have much ... - That must have been a worrisome time to go out and get water.

Irritability grabbed all of us as the house was very cold . No one slept well . Those three days seemed so much longer and that's with the fireplace going -The nights were in 30's. The floors were ice cold.

We still have alot of fixing up to do . Two damaged fences and my neighbors oak tree is still in my yard !! The kids have fun with that though- one more thing to climb on . We got the roof repaired . Part of it blew off
and was in our front trees.

God bless you always , Marge .

Praying you and everyone here have a most blessed
week-end.

My love to all of you,

Julie

like you had a hurricane experience, without the heat. I just don't know which is worse to be cold all night or to be sweating bullets! I do know that when it is over it makes us more grateful for the comforts we have. After this last hurricane in 2008 we barbequed a whole freezer full of meat. It was a lot of work but we lost very little of our food. We spent 6 days without electricity. We lost two sides of our fence and a 150 year old live oak tree which fell in the street. I walked each of my four dogs twice a day for about 10 days until we got our fence fixed. The dogs realy enjoyed the time...the walks and the extra meat! lol I was so glad when the power came back on. It was restored by a crew from up north, I think from Illinois or Ohio. My memory gets a little fuzzy at times like the top of my head. :-)

I'm glad you had some source of warmth and your food supply was okay for most of the ordeal. It sounds like there will be a LOT of cleanup in your area. Hopefully, you will continue to have those nice warm days in which to do it. I'm glad you're back with us, Miz Julie. We were all praying. 8-)
And there were SOME benefits. Wasn't it nice to have that close family time? Well, your family is already close, but there were no outside distractions whatsoever. I know we always enjoyed our trips up to the shore of Lake Michigan and staying at Aunt Ruth's cottage, where there was no indoor plumbing, no TV and a huge fireplace for heating up the place when we went to bed at night. Lying there looking out at the fire as we drifted off to sleep was so peaceful.
Welcome back!
xoxo
Nice to see Marge and Sandy made it by, too. Now I'm off to do that catch up of the board I had hoped to do this week. Vacation time is sometimes busier than work time! LOL!
