"The ways of the Old Testament people many times seem strange but when we look close we can find a New Testament truth in Old Testament ways."

Yes . I also find this to be true , HB.

MY JESUS, I LOVE THEE

My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine;
For Thee all the follies of sin I resign.
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I love Thee because Thou has first loved me,
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree.
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death,
And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

In mansions of glory and endless delight,
I’ll ever adore Thee in heaven so bright;
I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

I have often sung this old hymn and it is very moving to me.
It is how I feel in my heart so often.

Have you noticed how few of the later Christian music has failed the quality found in the old hymns?

There are a few that you can see the touch of God has been applied but they are very few.

May God bless

and yes - it is true - the new ones that come out don't move my heart as the old ones do .

And soon they will become familiar. With familiarity, there comes a sense of ownership. We love the old songs because they were sung to us by our moms and grandmas. But in doing so, there's no reason to discard the old songs--they still ring true.
