Genesis 22:20-24 And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor; 21 Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram, 22 And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel. 23 And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother. 24 And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.
The last verses of chapter 22 and chapter 23 are setting the stage for Isaac and his bride. Isaac is a type of Christ and Rebekah typifies the Church. Abraham will not accept a bride of the land where he sojourns. The wife for his son must be of his kinsmen. The list of names are from his brother Nahor and as we see the last name in the list is Rebekah, daughter of Bethuel. The other four sons; Tebah, Gaham, Thahash and Maachah are not in the running as they were born to Nahor's concubine and not to Milcah, his legitimate wife.
Abraham was in the land of the Canaanites and he intended to do his best to keep his son from marrying a Canaanite. The Canaanites were Baal worshipers and were an abomination to God. Canaan, the progenitor of the Canaanites, was the son of Ham and was a cursed man (Gen. 9:25) and also evidently the curse was passed on to his posterity.
One other interesting thing of note is how Rebekah ends the legitimate line of Nahor. All the others mentioned are sons but we know that Rebekah is named because of her marriage to Isaac. Another instance where a genealogy line ends with a woman is in Genesis 4:22 and as I pointed out in the study on that chapter the only reason I could think of that she would even be mentioned is that she must have married one of the sons of Noah and survived the flood. Ham would have been the most likely candidate as the traits of the Cainites evidently showed up in the line of Ham. His son Canaan received the second personal curse in the Bible even though it was Ham that committed the transgression (Gen. 9:22-25). God saw that the seed of Ham was messed up Cain was the first man to receive a curse (Adam was not cursed but the ground was: Gen 3:17) and lived and died a marked man from the curse God placed on him (Gen. 4:11). The first creature to be cursed was the serpent (Gen. 3:14) but then he was not a man.
