About a month and a half ago a friend of mine lost his wife's mother to sickness.

I had graduated school with Donald and we were good friends. By his testimony he credited me with leading him to the Lord and his subsequent salvation. I am forever thankful for that testimony.

Just before losing his mother in law he was hospitalized with double pneumonia and still showed the effects of it at the funeral.

About a week or so after the funeral he was back in the hospital with breathing problems. While there he was diagnosed with lung cancer. A very fast and aggressive kind. He passed away last Sunday morning. He and his wife Sandy lived in Florida but he wanted to be buried here at his old Church. While Sandy was up here making the final arrangements for the funeral her Dad passed away.

Donald's funeral is today and Sandy's Dad will be buried next to his wife on Tuesday.

I would ask prayers for that family.

God bless all.
Dwight

Sandy lost her Dad, Husband and Mother all within a couple of months? How tragic is that? I will definitely send my prayers up for the family and for you as well, in your loss of such a dear friend. God bless you.

it seems so unbelievable but just before the funeral started
today word came that one of her Aunts had died.

It it so reminiscent on a smaller scale of how Job lost his family in chapter 1 of the book of Job.

I remember reading how a mother lost all five of her sons on a ship that was torpedoed in WWII or WWI (I can't be for sure) but her tragic loss spurred congress to pass an act prohibiting brothers from being on the same ship. I can't remember all the details but none the less I can't imagine bearing such grief.

Sandy seemed to hold up well today but she has another funeral Tuesday with her Dad and I'm not sure about her Aunt. I don't even know if she is from around here.

All this makes me count my blessings.

So much grief piled on to one lone woman. Poor thing. I'm glad to know she knows the Lord. That will help sustain her, I know. Just can't even fathom such a thing.
I will continue to keep her in my prayers. And you, too. xoxo

I know the Bible says He will never give us more than we can bear but so much grief piled on one person so fast does make me wonder sometimes; however they do seem to come thru it stronger than ever. My prayers for them and you also that He may hold all of you in His everlasting arms and comfort you. It kinda reminds me of my own mother who lost a daughter, her mother and two brothers in one year and how she coped with it has always been an example for me to follow.

I remember reading how a mother lost all five of her sons on a ship that was torpedoed in WWII.. That was the Sullivan brothers and at the time there was a lot of publicity about them all joining up and serving on the same ship (SS Juneau); however, after their tragic loss a law was passed to prevent such a thing from happening again.

I couldn't remember the names nor the ship. All I could remember was it happened and it all came to mind while I was writing the post on her losses.

No matter how much we have to bear we can always look and see someone who has had to bear more.

God's grace is sufficient for all of us though.
