Your last paragraph certainly describes the time we are living in and we are witnessing it first hand. How tragic that so many are unaware of it and go merrily along without a thought for what's before their eyes and what's ahead.

we are about to see the rise of the bear. An interesting thing about the "kings" during the end times is that many kings will be short lived.

Revelation 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

I don't know the duration of this prophetic hour but the way it is written leads to the conclusion it will be a short time.

The next kingdoms in Daniel could last for a very short time.
