Subject: Question regarding isp and ip numbers

Can this board owner tell us the truth about isp's and ip numbers? Can an anonymous poster be traced beck to their email account where private information could be posted on the internet? Why does many board owners threaten to show and post an isp? Is there a webiste we can visit to learn more about this? I have talked to friends, and they are terrified to post anything because they might be labeled or accused of being a basher. Really not trying to make this an argument, but would like opinions and information on this.

IP is internet protocol, & if you sign off, then I sign on, I could get the same # you just had. ISP is internet service provider (like AOL, cable, etc.).
