Subject: Football

Villanova dropped football 4/15/80 citing totaly bogus
financial problems. During this time VU was to build
a new basketball arena. The alumni arranged a total boycott
of any contributions to this venture. During the next four
years the alumni made things miserable for the school,
even taking out full page adds in all the Phila. news-paper.

Eventually during 1984 tha administration agreed to
reinstate football at the 1-AA level at the start of
the 1985 season. Santa Clara can do the same.
