Clairese,
I beg to differ. I coach a women's team at the Division I level and we are severely underfunded in the area of scholarhips, operating budget and coaches salary. All are 50% funded and we are the least funded program in our conference. Most of my players are on less than $5,000 scholarship when the annual cost of our university is over $40,000. My players play because they love the sport and it allows them to develop character traits and personal strengths that they will have for a lifetime. They also participate in giving back to the community, single handedly raising more than $11,000 for the Make A Wish Foundation.
I respect your opinion but wanted to give you a first hand perspective of what is happening in our program.
