Hey, at least rugby had a great year, and for now, that's the closest thing to football the school has! Unfortunately they lost 24-17 to Utah Valley State in the Pacific Coast playoffs this past weekend, after beating Western Washington the previous afternoon, so they won't be in the finals at Stanford in three weeks. Good on the SCUTS! They were 7-0 in Nor Cal College Division 2 play for '08.
I don't know if football returning to SCU would help the rugby program, but perhaps it would, as many gridders were also ruggers in the past. The women's rugby team did okay this year as well.
So maybe football will return with a new administration running the school, but it will take lots of bucks, and most importantly, it'll take support of the students and alumni to buy tickets and attend games.
