Could this be the first year for Steve Sanders, All the tournaments he's won in the past the old Barking Singles has been a bit to much for the old boy. Must be the presure.

This could be the 'Zedwatch' update. Control can post the survivors. You can count them all out and count them all back in again.

Dutch, from your unique position of former winner, former Zed now on the sidelines, perhaps you could assume the position of Pool pundit and run the rule over the Zeds still in the K/O, and give us your expert opinion on who from the magnificent 7 is most likely to stay the course.
Not forgetting to take into consideration factors like 'How likely are they to turn up?' etc.

The magnificent seven in the last 128, now lets see, who out of them name's will progress. Depending on how serious Steve Sanders is taking the event you would have to put him as one of the favourites, personally i think that this is the round where he has somewhere else to be. Steve Adams is like the Ray Rearden of the game, he's been there seen it and done it, now the old eyes aint like what they use to be, Perhaps will get to last 32. Keith Bryant, i see him as the Willie Thorne of pool, been around for years and never really won much, but must say is a dangerous player as i found the year after i my first Championship victory, done me 2-0 and i didn,t know who he was, that was in 1990, my prediction Keith's exit round last 16.
Alan Pointer,'that's a tough one' everyone hope's they draw him, but when you play against him just make sure you make the clearance, cause if not you may get the dreaded 48 snooker's a frame to get out off, like to see him get through another round but cant see it,(sorry Al).
Young Tony Pointer, still learning the game as did Gary Parson's for many years but now has come good, i can see young zed a player to watch out for in the future , but not yet, prediction last 32.
John Runghen, could be the surprise of the year,Joe Johnson done it when no one Knew him, John is a steady player and can beat anyone on his day as i've found out on the Ilford comp's, my predition is a surprise semi.
Scott Fuller, 'will he turn up' if he slowed down a bit and concentrated i'd say a last 8 player in the event, but if he has his wild head on, he will be going out in the next round.

Draw for last 128 has now been made and will be 'leaked' exclusively to this site in the near future.

For the time being at least one Zed will not survive this round as the draw has thrown up a Zed v Zed match.

Odds on the 7 remaining Zeds, the so-called Seven Kings Seven Kings may alter as the draw for the last 128 is revealed.

Steve Sanders, assuming he successfully completes his postponed prelim match faces up and coming youngster Gregg Parker from the Stags. Although Gregg took the £50 first prize at last Friday's Weekly K/O at Barking, he was playing out of group E, and it was World Rules. Greggs all-out attacking style could play right into Steve's hands.

Scott Fuller should go through against Karen Yates.

Alan Pointer plays A.Manley from Dagenham Working Mens Club, the Classic 'Unknown Quantity'

Keith Bryant faces a tricky game against the unpredictable Bob Buckley, but should come out on top.

Tony Pointer has potentially the hardest draw against Gary Laydon of the Lads. This one has all the hallmarks of an Old Master versus Young Pretender conflict. If Tony's on song with his clearances he could win it, but Gary will surely punish any mistakes.

Lastly the match of the round as far as Zed fans are concerned :- Steve Adams versus John Runghen
Those who've seen both players play over the last few months will realise this one is much closer to call than others might think. An on form Steve Adams is still capable of beating anyone in the game, but he has a tendancy to gift wrap frames to his opponant. John is also quite capable of winning on his own merits, but would gratefully accept any presents from Steve. John may well survive the match, but will he survive the legendary 'Quincy' Adams postmortem afterwards.

My prediction is that 6 Zeds will survive this round, with the only casualty being the unlucky loser of the Zed v Zed tie.

One match in the last 128 has already been played. John Runghen has continued to scythe his way through the top seeds, by defeating Steve 'Quincy' Adams. So thorough was John's demolition of his former idol, that Steve didn't even attempt to talk him through it afterwards.

John told this reporter that he was hoping to get Darren Collison in the next round, or anyone else.

Couldn't help noticing that after the match, the unfortunate Mr. Adams attempted to put his head in his hands and missed. He probably got a kick.

so there are two zeds into the next round, with no news on the other few!!!

so much for the prediction, in that the only zed casualty would be the victim of the zed V zed match! lets hope the rest come through, and present the zeds with a chance of winning something else this year, as well as the ko cup

This is terrible news about Tony and Scott. But what about the others? Are you breaking it to us gently by only releasing the bad results one at a time? Come on, tell us, we can take it!

Relax Zedfans, there's a third day of the last 128 yet to come, Tues 23rd, when Messrs Sanders & Pointer(Snr) will be plying their trade.

However one of them has apparantly got a lucrative exhibition booked for that night and as he has still to play his Prelim match, he must arrange and play that before 23rd, or face being eliminated. I'd say its extremely unlikely that he'll bother. But our other contender could still make it 3 out of a possible 6 Zeds in last 64.

NB Alan 'Man in Black' Engledow didn't enter the Singles, so is unlikely to make last 64

well alan parker, if memory serves got thoroughly demolished by mark stirling of the larks, jimmy couldnt turn up, and was unable to make it, or rearrange, so was eliminated, and woz after rearranging game anyway, didnt go, whether he would have beaten mark parker is another matter....................................................................but as the zed says, you will never know!!!

when is the next section of the singles, odds say that messrs runghen and bryant will be the only two members of the zeds thru to the last 64! but maybe not sir ALAN POINTER, who by all means could prove to be a DARK horse, that cue action of his nearly hitting the lights and smashing them every time he cues up to play a shot, could prove to be a good tactic, if he continues to ply this trade, he could plunge barking into darkness, and end up being the favorite for the KO singles, 100000000000000000-1. ill have a tenner!

I dont really know, all three players have their strengths, and not many weaknesses, and all have the ability to beat anyone on a given day!!

So could produce an interesting forum, and possibly maybe a new set of odds from the last set!!

> DUTCH THE PUNDIT

Just thought i would bring this bring this back to the top of the forums to see how Dutch the Pundit was doin in his singles prediction

Steve Sanders - Spot on Dutch
Steve Adams - Unfortunatly Steve and Myself got drawn together in the last 128, therefore one of Dutch's predictions was always goin to be wrong, I won this match 2-0.
Keith Bryant - Last 16 as predicted, will he go further, he will have to beat the Cat if he is to.
Alan Pointer - Well Dutch you were wrong there - Alan got himself into the last 32, before being beaten by the hugely talented Cyberzed, which was further than 90% of Zeds.
Tony Pointer - Last 32 prediction was wrong has he succumbed to Gary Laydon in the 128.
Scott Fuller - Not quite dutch, he again eliminated himself in the last 128 to Karen Yates i believe. Question is did he have his 'wild head' on cos if he did then Spot on Dutch.
Myself - Well Dutch only time will tell as to whether i will fulfil your prediction, last 16 so far, after a 2-0 defeat of Jason Dobinson last night at Barking, and a quite useful draw.

So overall Dutch i think you have done pretty well.
