「小燕子」趙薇長大了，她說，拍「天地英雄」的４個月裡，天天與姜文、中井貴一與王學圻３個沉穩成熟的男性相處與對戲，不跟著成熟都難。

在「天地英雄」裡，趙薇演唐朝鎮守邊關的將軍之女，因為戰爭關係，父親將她託給奔波於西域，追捕朝廷要犯的日本遣唐使中井貴一帶回長安，結果在中井貴一追捕姜文過程中，她與兩男意外的產生了淡淡的情愫；至於大反派的胡人土匪王學圻也愛她到不忍殺她，只是王學圻對她的愛，最後不知怎的全被導演何平給刪了。


趙薇說，在大陸素有「肩扛第五代導演」美譽的演技派演員王學圻像個爸爸，很會照顧人，中井貴一則像哥哥，會陪她玩遊戲與跳舞，至於被傳跟她有緋聞的姜文，趙薇形容他像小孩，個性滿衝動的。

由於何平希望趙薇在片中像「沙漠中的一滴水」，重要但戲份不重，所以４個月在沙漠中拍片，趙薇悶得慌，一度想棄演，還好跟３位男演員成了好朋友，才能熬下來。

這２年來緋聞事件不少的趙薇，歷經周星馳、吳大維、姜文等事件，對愛情是否會有所卻步？趙薇的答案是：不會。
