Tarkenta on harjata turkkia saannollisesti, niin ei paase takkuuntumaan. Pesun jalkeen kuivaan foonilla, mutten suorista vaan annan olla kiharana. Turkki leikataan n. nelja kertaa vuodessa. Kesan kynnyksella ajelen turkin kokonaan pois. Muulloin lyhennan saksilla ennen pesua harjatun turkin. Vaikka tulos ei aina ihan millintarkkaan tasapitka olekaan, leikkauksen jalkeinen pesu ja turkin kiharat peittavat pienet epatasisuudet.
