Subject: Sharon and anyone else doing Vol. 2 this year...

Hello,

I have been lurking occasionally, but it has been a very busy summer with our adoption and 4H so I haven't really posted much.

I was wondering how many of you are using Vol. 2 this year? We will be starting on Sept. 9th. I have decided to do unit 2 first and then go to unit 1. We will continue in order after that. We live in Michigan and can't ride bikes and fly kites in Dec. or Jan. (unfortunately). I am jealous of all of you southerners who have no snow. :-) I am orginally from Florida and Georgia. But, my kids just love the snow, sledding and ice skating. I think after you become an adult the snow becomes a nusiance (except through the eye of a SLR camera!).

Sharon, I was wondering how your study is going. We will probably be close to you for unit 2 since you started earlier. I am doing all of my planning this week and have found some really great books at our local library. I am going to go back this week when I have more time so that I can interloan some also. Approximately how long does it take for your day? We will occasionally do the grammar and math sections, but some of it is too advanced for my kiddos. We are using separate curriculum for that this year. We will do the reading and writing though. I can tailor that to their levels specifically. One of my sons is ADHD and the other is dyslexic. It can be a challenge schooling them. :-)

I am just trying to plan ahead and was also wondering if any of you have tips about the pre-planning. Have you found any really fun projects or games for the inventions units? Thanks for the help.

Blessings,
Liann

P.S. Sharon, how is Laid Back Learning coming? When do you expect it to be ready for purchase? I want to get my copy hot off the press! :-)
