In World Book encyclopedia there should be a picture with a description of the different types. In case you can't find it, here they are.

oceanic - lie in the open ocean far from any continent, usually formed of coral or volcanic lava

inland - often formed in lakes and rivers when the motion of the water piles up masses of soil

continental - lie near continenets of which they were once a part, although they are now separated by water

land-tied - connected to the mainland by sand bars of muc and gravel deposited by shore currents

floating - on inland waters are masses of earth and driftwood

If you really got into this, it would lend itself well for some kind of Dinal Zike book or project.
