Subject: Our basic schedule ...
In reply to: Liann 's message, "Do any of you follow a year-round schedule? What kind of schedule do you follow?" on 20:48:52 06/26/02 Wed

My basic schedule when dealing with 6-week units is to take a week break after each 6 weeks and give longer breaks around Christmas and during the summer. Our summer break will usually be about 6 weeks long and we make it a "true" break with NO schooling b/c ALL of us need the time to just veg and enjoy our own personal interests. Next year when we'll be using Prairie Primer by Margie Gray, we'll probably take a break after every 8 weeks since the unit is broken down into nine 4 week units.

Another schedule I like is 10 weeks on, 2 weeks off leaving 4 extra weeks for holidays & summer. This is more of a "year-round" schedule which I may adopt when my kids are a bit older and are able to concentrate better for longer periods of time. Right now, *I* need the break after 6 weeks of school, LOL!
