Subject: Pick berries like the Indians did!

We will be finishing up our first Unit on the Native Americans next week. Because it is still summer and we have had the typical summer activities going on, we haven't done as many of the Indian activities in the unit as Sharon has included - my kids have had more fun focusing on the science included, though! Our lapbooks for science are looking quite good considering it's our first shot at it!

However, we do have a local blueberry patch and so headed out this morning to pick blueberries just like the Indians did! We picked a gallon and a quart in about 2 hours, paid $7.50 for this (would have cost at least $20 for the same amount in the store, so we got some math out of it it, too!). It was a fun time - we've done it before, but it meant something this year! If you have a berry patch near you, check it out! We still figure we have another 1-2 weeks worth of berries we could pick from!
