Sharon,

I do have a few more questions. Can the science experiments be done by the kids (8 and 9 1/2 by Fall) on their own if I am not feeling well enough to join in? My oldest does so much science on his own because it is his first love. But, there is no structure to it. If I had everything together, are the experiments laid out well enough for a 9 year old to follow or would I have to direct them? I am not trying to have them school themselves, but there are days that I just cannot continue with a normal schedule and they need to be able to follow an alternate schedule. I was wondering if the experiments could still continue.

Yes, I would love to see a sample lesson from volume 2. I did look at the lesson from Benjamin Franklin and it looks wonderful. Is there a lesson on Ben Franklin in volume 2? It would be great if you could post the lesson on Flight as the sample lesson. That would give me a really good idea of how well it would work for my sons. I'm sure my oldest would like to look at it too. I took him to one of our curriculum fairs this year and he was a tremendous help. He just loved the fair and having input on what curriculum he would do the next year. He was such a gentleman and even carried my books! :-)

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. We definately follow a relaxed/Charlotte Mason method of schooling. Some days it looks more like structured unschooling considering how much time my son spends on his inventions. My husband and I believe that they need time to learn and grow. The love of learning is very important to us. Our homeschool motto is: Add to your faith, character and to your character, knowledge. 1 Peter 2:15. We are very eclectic and that is why your study would probably work well for us. Sounds the kids would not get board. They love creative hands-on work.

Another question that I have is about library books. We live in a big city and have a wonderful library. So my problem would not be in finding books, but rather choosing from so many. I don't have the time to read each one and I want to be careful to not get books which take an unbiblical viewpoint. Do you recommend any resources like Honey for a Child's Heart, Timetables of History or Books Children Love? Is there a list somewhere of gems that I should look for? You must have found some gems during your research.

Thank you for taking so much time to answer my questions.

Blessings,
Liann
