I think the science could be done by the kids by themselves. There's nothing that requires major instructions. It's more of investigative type lessons, so they can do them and go off in different directions if they wish

There isn't a lesson on Benjamin Franklin in volume 2, but there are plenty of other inventors, including many that you've probably never heard of. I tried to include a mix of common inventions as well as some less obvious ones. I can't remember if I listed all the specific inventions in the scope and sequence page of the website, but I'll check on that and make sure they're there.

About the library books, we do have a list of suggested books for volume 1 on the egroups site. Kris put it together and others added to it. For volume 2, I don't have anything yet, but I'm sure as people start using it, someone from a big city will be able to come up with a list for it as well. I personally am a sucker for old books, so most of the books we use are out of print and would be useless to anyone else, although, now with abebooks.com, they can be purchased. But most libraries nowadays only carry modern books. We do kind of a different approach than most people because my daughter and I both love biographies, so mostly we cover topics by reading biographies about the people. We've learned a lot that way that we wouldn't have learned otherwise.

Happy Homeschooling!
