Subject: Hard Sauce

1/3 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup powered sugar

Cream the butter until very soft,then stir in the sugar and
flavoring.Set in a cool place until required for use.

Cook's Notes:Other flavoring may be used instead of vanilla and
other sugar such as granulated,brown or maple can be substituted for
powered if desired.A grating of lemon rind,nutmeg or cinnamon may
be used instead of the vanilla also.Cream or milk may be added with
more sugar to make more sauce.This sauce may be used with a hot
pudding of any kind.
