Thanks for the update, guys. As of right now (11:25AM on Wednesday) I am having some major bad feelings about this Field Day show. MTV is reporting that the promoter is going to hold the show someplace else, probably Giants Stadium, which is a drag. I mean, it's cool if the show actually happens, but Giants Stadium is not what most of us were coming up there to experience.
After living through the miracle that was Bonnaroo in Tennessee last year, it's mind-boggling to me to see how the bureaucratic sector of Long Island and Suffolk County are acting towards Field Day. I know that the Superfly and AC folk are much more experienced than Andy Dreskin is at throwing festivals, but I can't help but make the comparison between the two and worry about Bonnaroo NE's feasability in light of this fiasco. I mean, you and I know that Field Day and Bonnaroo NE are worlds apart, but the people who control local politics in the area seem dead set against any kind of concert happening up there. I just hope that Ashley Capp and the other folks running Bonnaroo are keeping a close eye on things. And Bonnaroo is three days, almost four, as opposed to two -- how is the county gonna react to that? I feel sorry for all you guys who live close to Enterprise park if this show doesn't happen. People on the other message boards are really pissed! Many of them claim they're going to come up there anyway, probably with trouble in mind. Let's just hope that the promoters salvage SOMETHING and have the concert, or else there will be trouble in Riverhead and that will screw up the playing field for Bonnaroo NE.
Geez, all this because I wanted to see Radiohead, the Beastie Boys, the Roots, and Beck! Last time I tried to see Radiohead the show was cancelled due to flooding (Virginia; the last tour), and now this; I am starting to think that the Gods are aligning against me with regards to seeing Thom Yorke.
Anyway, Bonnaroo in Tennessee is next weekend, so at least I have that to look forward to. Neil Young, the Meters, the Dead, Moe., James Brown, the Allman Brothers, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Particle and Ben Harper sure have a way of lifting your spirits when you're down!
Happy Trails to all who are going!
I'll be watching these postings over the next couple of days to see what goes down in Riverhead with this whole fiasco/melodrama. Hopefully there will be no problem with the refund checks.

Peace!
Bob
