I can already tell that Diana, and Gopika are already favourites because they seem to be in every promotionals, even on the Miss India Website.

MU2002 finally over,
I loved this years pageant!!!!!! It was great not to much singing, and not to much distractions. The only flaws was not bringing back the interview section in the first half, putting the evening gown competition in front of the swim suit, and hmmmmm is there anthing else??? I will let you know laters, but this years pageant was great.
Some of the big surprises were that there were no black delegates up there in the top 10. I thought for sure with all these beautiful black women from all over the world that they would have at least one up there. There were couple surprises up there. Albania and China I guess Donald does want these countries to come back next year. Hey these women were amazing though. What happened to USA???? Poor thing she did not make the top 10? She was a great delegate and she represented the USA well.
Okay getting to my thoughts of MU2002,
Here we go..........
I like the whole beginning part where the delegates introduces themselves and there country. Very Puerto Rican!!!!!! The whole stage was just stunning.
On to the Evening Gown,
Albania~ Red really matched her! The way she flowed in it and the way she glided that shear behind her was great.
Russia~ What is this a toga party???? She just looked great in it though. I had to watch it over to see why the judges liked it. She moved just beautifully in it and she knew how to work that dress.
South Africa~ Very regal. The dress looked interesting but most of all I liked the back of that dress.
India~ This dress showed her wide hips. I dont know why it made it over other evening gowns like the Caymen Islands or USA's???? I dont know why I dont like this dress?
Germany~ Nice dress! The delegate was not to stunning, even with those ooooooohhhhhing lips. The color was great though. Can somebody fix her hair. She just looked like a wreck with that hair.
Cyprus~ Wow what a beautiful delegate. How did I miss her? She was a surprise and also her first time in the top 10. She moved great in that evening gown.
Canada~ Her dress was great and she walked well in it. Hey she also reminds me of Miss India 1998. I just loved this delegate.
Panama~ Great delegate. I personally dont like the dress though. Hey is this Jlo?????
China~ Her first year in the MU pageant and did very well in it. She looks a little older but very stunning. She really knows how to move.
Venezuela~ This dress was a great choice for her. I was just wondering how she kept that dress from falling. This delegate really did not appeal to me.
Too the Swim Suit.....
Albania~ I guess every year has to have a one piece. She was awesome though in it.
Russia~ She has a great body. No wonder why the judges gave her such a high score she is GREAT!!!!!!!
South Africa~ Slightly skinny but looked good. She really looks like the MU type.
India~ This girl is great and she has a beautiful face but her Hips is the only flaw. A LITTLE TO WIDEEEEEEEEE!!!
Germany~ Seems like she was a little EXCITED before she got on stage because there was little too much of those oooooooooooooooohhhhhh expressions on her face. Was it me or was she just sucking it in. I think she has an ugly body! Sorry....
Cyprus~ This girl had a great body. Her breast a little to big but she new how to work the stage.
Canada~ Cody looked skinny and wierd but her face was great.
Panama~ This delegate had the body. She was fit and tones in all the right places.
China~ Would have looked better with her hair down. She really has a long figure. But she worked that shear good.
Venezuela~ Looked great but also should have left her hair down. As always all Venezueleans no how to work this competition.
Final 5......
Panama~ Her 1st question was totally easy, and that gave her high marks for that one. Her second question she answered very well.
China~ This delegate is so cute on how she answers her questions. 1st question she answered with a great answer. 2nd question~ She was also cute. Even though I could'nt really understand what she was saying. She always seemed to make the audience laugh.
South Africa~ She is a little to serious when she answers her questions. She gave great answers but a little to serious for the moment.
Venezuela~ She seemed a little nervous on answering both of her questions. I don't know why. She is a sweet heart though.
Russia~ She was also cute on how she answered her questions. To bad she did not know how to speak english.
Well The delegates did great. Russia was a great choice for the crown. One of the most beautiful MU's ever. Denise Q looked great as always and she was a wonderful MU. I was shocked to see Brooke Lee there, she looked great. It was funny when she had to stop because of the que cards dropping or something. Overall the MU2002 pageant is great. I cant wait till the Miss Teen USA pageant.

Celebrating 50 years of Miss Universe, Global Beauties decided to pay tribute to them all by picking the most beautiful among the most beautiful women on the planet.
Aware that people from different regions of the world have different concepts of beauty, judges have been diveded into 3 groups: the Americas (representing 1/3 of titleholders final score), Europe/Africa (1/3) and Asia/Oceania (1/3).
Americas: we begin with two of the greatest pageant experts on earth: William Prendiz (USA) and Roberto Macedo (Brazil). We also have Neil Craig from the Bahamas, Richard Issa from Curaçao, Jeannie Szoradi and Manolo Aviles from Puerto Rico. Canada is represented by the masters of pageant information and archives: Jimmy Steele and David MacDonald. and by the world's #1 pageant historian expert, Donald West. From the USA we have Greg Borowski and 'beauty professor' Phil di Maggio. Mexico has Arturo Garcia and pepe Medel as judges. Central America also participated in the judging, with Global beauties' co-president Ed Dominguez , Julio Burgos from Panama and Nicaragua's own Marcio Telleria. From Venezuela Max Salazar and Julio Rodriguez participated. Marcos Fernandez Blest from Peru is joined by Chilean photographer and journalist Ricardo Guiraldes. Also from Chile we have webmaster Claudio as a judge.Alvaro Petrone is the voice of Uruguay, while Brazil has Alberto Dubal and Henrique Fontes as judges.
Europe/Africa: From Iceland, our first European judge is Heidar Jonsson. She is loved by us all, Finland's own Marjukka Nieninen. Vishal Sewbalak is our Dutch judge. Always so present in the world of pageantry, Germany's Michael Knittel could not be out of this one. France has Lyon's Martial Dumas as a judge. Spain is represented by Juan Felix and Augustin. From Portugal,we have judge Manuel Abrunhosa. We cross the Mediterranean Sea and we find Egypt's Youssef Spahi. Completing our second group of judges are two young men from South Africa: Adrian Skelly and Sifiso Bande.
Asia/Oceania: From India we have Daniel Rosario. Korea has two judges: Woojae Chung , and Pusan's own Ahn Byong Gon. From Singapore, Global Beauties' informal editor Chan Joy Seng. Two great names from the Philippines follow: Mabuhay's Ching Edwards and the best pageant commentator around, Joseph Vitug. Australia's Brendon Conway is the only judge from Down Under, while Northern Mariana's Minj Kim represents the Pacific Ocean.

Has anyone noticed something strange about the past 2 Miss Universe pageants? That's right, there has been only ONE black seme-finalist out of TWENTY. The reason? PUERTO RICAN PRELIMINARY JUDGES. It only stands to reason that no woman of African descent will ever win Miss Universe in Puerto Rico because they are BLATANTLY BIASED! It was mentioned that so many semi-finalists this year had a similar look. Dark hair and pale skin. DUH! IS IT ANY WONDER?? Just take one look at EVERY Miss Puerto Rico in the last 10 years. DARK HAIR AND PALE SKIN!!
This year had such potential for women of African descent, having broken barriers in countries such as Colombia, USA, Sweden, Honduras, Mexico, etc. It's such a shame that the pageant had to be held in Puerto Racisto AGAIN! Same preliminary judging, same bias, and wasted opportunities for QUALITY delegates.
I'm not taking anything away from Oxana because she is undoubtedly beautiful. But she won at whose expense? In my humble opinion, the Miss Universe Pageant should NEVER be held in Puerto Rico again!! Last year's pageant was a farce, and this year's pageant was an equal abomination.
When people commend Puerto Ricans this year for such an excellent pageant, all I can say is HA! They had nothing to do with the production, and oooooooh, how commendable that they didn't BOO the delegates on stage. It's EXPECTED not to demonstrate poor sportsmanship!!!
Next year, in Panama, I'm hoping there will be fairer judging. Panama has sent delegates of African descent before, so the preliminary judging should be slightly better. However, there are no second chances for Erika Cruz, Vanessa Mendoza, Malou Hansson, and Shauntay Hinton. All I can say is, what a shame!

When an emotional Denise Quinones entered the stage for the last time as Miss Universe, it s the feeling of mission accomplished could be seen in her eyes. Beautiful Denise Quinones fulfilled her duties as Miss Universe with the extreme beauty and kindness of a real queen.
She traveled the world raising funds for those infected with the HIV virus. The compassioned beauty queen was so touched by what she saw in the many countries she visited that decided to continue her charitable work after giving her crown up. Aside from that, Denise proved to have tremendous talent as a tv presenter (she hosted the Miss Universe Presentation show) and singer.
Puerto Ricans put their best effort into putting this show together and the final product could not have been better. We also congratulate the Puerto Rican people for their great attitude. When they learned Miss Puerto Rico 2002 was not one of the 10 semi-finalists in the pageant, they gracefully accepted the results and started cheering the countries who made the cut.
Congratulations to Denise and to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico!

Miss Puerto Rico, Isis, does not look like a candidate. PR, being the host country, should have given her the honor at least to be a hospitality girl during the pageant. Like in charge of the coat room; assistant in the backstage room watching over the needs of the distinguished beauty delegates from all over the world; cleaning up the mess left by the delegates in their hotel suites; chaperone to the gorgeous ambassadors of beauty. Visitors will appreciate PR for these special services. Why was she in the top three in the National Costume competion? A dress from a flea market or value center? It looks like a toilet bowl slip cover to me. Where is the sense of decency here?
Last year in PR was a sham. History should not be repeated. The reigning MU from PR even stole the spot for Miss America at last year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.
How cheap could she be? She has no class at all. She is a puppet of the Trump Organization.

DID anyone else see the sweat rolling down Cynthia's neck (Miss Venezuela) during the top five interview? Look Closely and you'll see it!!!! I'm suprise most people aren't mentioning her first interview , I thought it was Horrible, she really choked up and didn't quite get her last point across, all she ended up saying was you you you you...etc....I found that all the contestants (except Russia and Panama) didn't really answer the questions given to them, they tried so hard to please the audience and say some witty but it didn't work and south Africa was too serious and was too cocky. Russia however was very elegante and kept everything very simple, nothing was overdone and I lover her final answer, it was so clever and it must've been the shortest Final Answer ever. Panama I thought was the best in Interview, she was very Sincere and very warm.
I would have loved to see Albania in the Interview round, she seemed very happy to be in the top ten and was truly suprised, this refreshing delegate could have had an amzing interview.

1)Canada~ Interview was great!
2)Colombia~ So much hype and she is also beautiful. You know how the pageant runs, first part is BEAUTY then brains.
3)Curacao~ She has the an exotic Beauty of her.
4)Dominican Republic~ She looks sassy and she could take anything.
5)India~Nothing really special but great in interview. Also in the top 10 alot.
6)Jamaica~ Her beauty just shows off.
7)Puerto Rico~Great Interview, beautiful! Would'nt be surprised if she takes everything. Disappointed in the National Costume competition...she could have thought of something better. Overall she will be hard to beat. Especially in her home town.
8)South Africa~Something about this girl draws me to her. She is beautiful. South Africa missed the Top 10 Last year so she will take revenge. HAHAHAH!!!!!!
9)Sweden~ First Black Sweden. Beautiful and exotic.
10)USA~ Just like the Miss USA pageant she was a great speaker in interview. I would not be surprised if she takes it after she gets in the Top 5. She is very whitty and intelligent. Her aura will take her far too.

1. Peru-- This delegate has this very subtle beauty. I think the judges will be able to see that.
2. Japan (well, come to think of it... the crown came from Japan). Miss japan, aside from the Mikimoto Pearls, carries herself well. She reminds of the beautiful Japanese women in old Japnese films.
3. Philippines-- This lady has a lot of class. She looks breathtaking in her two-piece. She speaks well without feeling that she is talking to impress- very spontaneous. She brings out the best in that white gown.
4. USA-- This woman is full of energy and wit. She has this natural flair- not the usual Cinthia Lander's fake demeanor. She may not have the most beautiful face, but she has a lot of poise and she comes through with so much sincerity which is beauty in itself. Her athletic figure is also a big plus.
5. Ghana-- She has this queenly bearing. I like the way she projects and she has this lovely dark skin. She is definitely the best Black delegate in this year's pageant.
6. Italy-- very chic. She does not seem to get the attention of the latin Press, but her modern and fashionable projections will surely be seen by the judges.
7. Thailand-- This woman is the favorite Asian delegate of the Latin Press. She is a beautiful woman and appears to be so sweet. She is also one of the most photogenic delegates.
8. China-- Classy. I think this is a common denominator among many Asian delegates. They don't seem to exert so much effort (unlike the Latin contestants) to show class. This is also the first time China participates in this pageant. With Trump at the helm of the MUO, he is surely thinking of the big bucks that can be generated from the most populous country in the world.
9. Sweden-- This is another fabulous Black delegate and she is not from the Carribean. She looks sophisticated and presents herself well in all angles.
10. Australia. Simply beautiful.

Well....all I can say is at least they picked the most beautiful woman to win! She didnt seem all that intelligent and her dress was a catastrophe...but her face was fabulous!
Maybe USA will figure it out that we need a beautiful woman to win or we will not win universe!! Shauntye is fit and smart but if your face is not beautiful....Universe will not be yours!!
And did anyone else she how horrible Miss India looked in swimsuit--she could have been a plus size model-at least on the bottom! And it seemed the girls who looked the best in swimsuit were not scoring high? Basically no one but Russia got good scores--I guess they were looking at face and nothing else--not that that is bad because at least she is beautiful!!

My comments on the top 10 this year? Loved every one of them except for India, Canada, and China. How in the world does Neha come into the semi-finals with that all too tacky gown and the oh-so-large hips!!! And Neelam? Her hibs stuck out and her shoulders were WAY TOO WIDE!!! China seemed like a political shoo-in as they are in the process of attempting to bid for an international pageant to be held in their country (they tried this year for Miss World and they lost to Nigeria). The rest of the top 10 were fabulous and rightly placed. They were dozens of other more beautiful and deserving delegates than India, China, and Canada!! Well, maybe their interviews were dazzling and very polished (I am sure India's was).
The non-inclusion of the USA in the semi-finals was no surprise for me. No matter how energetic or charismatic you may be.... this does not assure a slot in the finals. Kudos to Miss Universe for giving some diversity in the top 10 this year.

Mess India 2002, Neha, is a real mess. She's by far the the ugliest "beauty" I've ever seen on live television. She'snauseating with all the filthy grease on her body. Her face and body are abnormal—excessive growth of tissues and bones on the chin area and mega slimy hips. Horrendous. What a BIG JOKE! Standing along with the other tops, she looked ODD and OUT—an oddity in Ripley's Believe it or Not! How the hell did she ever land there? She didn't belong there, obviously, let alone the entire pageant. She is an unworthy candidate who should have been screened out at the very outset. Her presence ruined the purity, sanctity and beauty of the televised program. I'm making a duplicaste of the VHS tape but I'm trying to figure out how I could edit and delete all sights of her without dcreasing the value of my collection—-archives,if you will. She had the nerve to walk onstage, though, which only aggravated my disgust. What a disgrace, indeed.

Peru: she looked so stunning in Miss Peru, but i'm not impressed with her showing in MU so far. I hope she shines in the prelims
Puerto Rico: Never was to fond of her, seemed like a Denise-wannabe to me, but i thought she would have been more of a threat. She can make the 10, but i doubt she can pull through

I think the best option for ceasing the cruel rivalry that is existing between the fans of Miss Colombia, Miss Venezuela and Miss Puerto Rico is to choose Miss Panama as the new Miss Uniervse!!!! Look, this girl has all the attibutes a Miss Universe should have. And you can see in the other web sites how they fight, argue and insult each other. What a shame and I can imagine that there can be riots on the final day of the pagent if their delegates don't make it on the top 5. Get more police riots please!!!!

I think the organizers of the MUO should brief the host country officials to observe fair treatment among all the delegates. These women came from miles and miles away to participate in this cultural event and experience the warmth and hospitality of the host country. For this alone, they deserve not just Puerto Rico's hospitality but also its adherence to fairness.
It is so unfair that European and Asian delegates have not been getting as much publicity as the Latin delegates. The pageant is becoming so politicized and rating obssessed that it is already losing its glory and universal appeal. It appears like the Asian and European delegates (exception of Germany who is partly Venezuelan)are just background decorations for their Latin competitors. Japan, China, the Philippines, and thailand are exquisite (not cute as many Latin pageant lovers would describe them). Switzerland, Italy, and France are lovely.
The national costume competition should become a part of the actual preliminary scores. Their national costumes speak so much about the delegates' country and its culture. Judging should be done fairly, otherwise it loses the merits of a healthy competition. If this continues, the MUO would be losing more countries participating in its future pageants. Two to three judges from each region should be selected, and these jurors should take an oath that they will perform their duties fairly (just like in the Olympics).
The winners of the national costume this year are all from the Carribean. Honestly, I have seen the other costumes and these adjudged winners are definitely not the best. Puerto Rico is second. If this trend continues, then Denise might crown another Puerto Rican. This is a shame.

The USA has so many attractive girls, why on earth would a girl who could hardly win a local in any state be crowned Miss USA? She is not 5'7" no matter what her bio states.She shows way to much gums when she smiles, and her hair is tacky. Does anyone remembe rthe gorgeous Miss Kansas, her first runner-up? She's the one that should have won!Miss USA will probably make top 10, but it will be because of the sash she wears. If she were Miss Belize, she wouldn't crack anything near Top 10 and thats a sorry fact.

Okay, I'm from a "sash country." I happen to think that Miss USA makes it to the top ten/twelve because she deserves to, but many other people disagree with me. I've come up with the following idea for the preliminary judging. Tell me what you think. I think it could work and we'd see, perhaps, a totally different top ten than usual, or we'd see the "sash" countries still making the top ten, which might quiet some of the detractors. Here's my idea: When the delegates arrive in the host country, randomly assign each a number (so this year it would be a number from 1-75). The preliminaries would happen on three different days, as follows:
Preliminary Day One:
Half (Group 1): swimsuits
Half (Group 2): evening gowns
Preliminary Day Two:
Group 1: evening gowns
Group 2: swimsuits
(in other words, the girls who competed in swimsuits on day 1, would compete in evening gowns on day 2 and vice-versa)
Day Three:
Interviews (Here the country each girl represents would have to be known by the judges, as I'm sure they would want to ask questions about the country from which each girl comes. However, the swimsuit and evening gown competitions (two-thirds of the preliminary scores) will have already taken place with each girl having competed as a number instead of a country, thus alleviating country favoritism.
Do you think this would work?

Most so called pageant experts insist that a girl in order to make it to the top ten must at least be 1.75.
I disagree!!! I think beauty lies in the eye of the beholder and it comes in different shapes and sizes.
What do you think the candidates much be judged on?

There. If there will be a top 12, which I hope will happen, then I hope some overlooked Slavic/Balkan delegate or Spain or Nicaragua will grab one of those two spots. India is great too. But for sure a spot whether top 10 or 12 is reserved for Puerto Rico (yadda yadda yawn). It's been proven that a "sash" country can be left out (remember '99?) and USA should be worrying right now but she should be relieved that she has spark, energy and great speaking skills (and the tragedy issue) but besides that, there's not much that's great with her. Don't be surprised if USA doesn't make the semi-finals.
