Clara stared at the four walls that surrounded her and misery. She sat in the same spot she had been in for 2 days. His words still rang in her ear “IT’S OVER.” Playtime? It was now over. She looked at the clock 2:00 am …she finally laid down. She cried balled up and fell asleep. The Next Day~ at work Chelle- gurl what did you do last night? Clara- (fake smile) oh nuthin Chelle- all this weekend? Clara- I was kinda tired Chelle- what’s up with them dark circles under your eyes? You need sleep for real Clara- I know …I may take off from work early today Chelle- well do what cha gotta do Clara- I better go talk to Jerome then …and ask him if I can leave early Chelle- yeah you know he will since he got that lil crush on you Clara- (fake laugh) yeah …whatever Chelle- for real Clara- I need to call 2 more doctors then I’m outta here Chelle- u gotta go to school today? Clara- I didn’t tell you? I graduated early …cuz I took most of the classes in high school …but imma still walk with my class Chelle- for real? When? Clara- bout 2 months ago I finished Chelle- well you go gurl Lunch~ in Jerome’s office Clara- Mr. Jones …are u busy Jerome- (motions for her to come in) Jerome Clara- sorry Jerome- yeah …what is it? Clara- can I take the rest of the day off and come in early tomorrow? Jerome- what’s the problem? Clara- yeah …I got tomorrow off too Chelle- mmhmm …probably so Jerome can come over and play doctor Clara- (laughs) Chelle u stupid …it ain’t gon be none of that Chelle- mmhmm gurl I hope ya feel better Clara- thanks …bye Back Home She sat in the bed staring at the phone …an hour had passed and she hadn’t slept, ate or even blinked, when the phone rung she answered it before the first ring was over. Clara- HELLO! Kaylonie- DAYUM GURL ...WHAT YOU ANSWERING THE PHONE LIKE THAT FOR? Clara- oh Ayesha I thought you was somebody else Kaylonie- like who? A deaf person? Clara- (laughs) gurl what do you want? Kaylonie- what chu doin tomorrow? Clara- nuthin I don’t know why? Kaylonie- come get me from tha dayum airport …me and Jarell broke up and his nasty young too skinny behind kicked me out …and I need to come home and stay with you Clara- dang Kay! Can you ever stay put …you bout tha most unstable person I know …good thing you ain’t got no kids! How long you finna be freeloading this time? Kaylonie- long as I can dayum! Clara- do you even got a job? Kaylonie- you know me better than that Clara- well when you get down here you getting yo azz a job Kaylonie- Clara I ain’t got time for all that …I just need to come to yo house and go to sleep …I’ll think about all that other shit when it gets here …dayum! Can a nigga just chill Clara- what was mama thinkin when she had you first Kaylonie- she ain’t have me first …she had Nelly first Clara- whatever …go freeload off of him Kaylonie- didn’t he call you yesterday trying to borrow money? Clara- yeah Kaylonie- so why would I go to somebody that has to borrow money? I’m goin to the source okay Clara- ugh bye Kaylonie! Kaylonie- gurl my plane lands at noon Clara- BYE! (Hangs up) She looked at the phone until she fell asleep. She was asleep for about an hour when the phone woke her up. Clara- HELLO!! IJ- DAYUM GURL!!! Clara- WHAT DO YOU WANT????? IJ- ay don’t get mad at me because of what happened between yall Clara- IJ what do you want? IJ- did he leave me NBA dream cast game over there? Clara- I don’t know! I have to go bye IJ- gurl not until you find my game Clara- IJ I DON’T WANT YOUR DAYUM GAME …IF I FIND IT I’LL THROW THAT SHIT IN THE TOLIET!!! (Hangs up) UGH …Y DO THEY KEEP CALLING!!! She fell asleep after that and didn’t wake up until 8 tha next morning …she checked her caller ID but he didn’t call. She got up and took a shower and put on some old dingy looking sweat pants. Before she could finish putting on all her clothes the phone rung and somebody was knocking on the door. She almost ran to the door half dressed then to the phone before she calmed down, pulled her shirt over her head, grabbed the cordless and walked to the door. Clara- hello?
