“You gon’ be able to sit in that skirt?” I asked Nicle as Lyla, her and I alked over to the park in the middle of the time the fellas were practicing. Yes, I ain’t here to play. Plus, I have a date with my baby. He’s coming to get me laters”
“Oh really? I guess so…” I replied laughing as we took a bench not too far from the court where some of the guys were playing. I waved over at Reggie, but he quickly turned away.
“What’s up with ya boy?” Lyla questioned slipping on her sun shades proppd on the bench table watching the guys.
“He’s concentrating too hard. I shouldn’t bother them in their game, wel practice,” I replied watching them as well. One of the guys called “Break!” and they parted to the restroom, the table where their things were or still shootin’ hoops on the court. I watched Reggie go sit down. I excused myself from the girls. As I started walking over he pulled off his shirt and wiped his face with it. I thought that was just nasty.
“Hey baby, what’s up?” I asked perky. He looked at me and kissed me and drank some of his Gatorade. It’s like kissing to him was like a chore now.
“Besides the sky? Nothing at all,” H replied drinking Gatorade again. I thought to myself, is he trying to get smart? Well, I’m gon’ let this one slide. I tried to start a conversation again when Shaun came over giving me a hug. Reggie rolled his eyes.
“How’s Candace?” I asked. That’s Shaun’s girlfriend. “Um, that girl around here somewhere. I just saw her, but she’s aiight. How are you?”
“Oh, Fine. Just…fine,” I replied patting Reggie on his thigh. After that small conversation I tried to talk to Reggie again. “I saw you out there on the court. You’re incredible out there baby. You’re smooth, swift. You’re like a dancer,” I compared smiling turning away from his expressionless face. He was concentrating on something.
“Hmm…yeah, swift, and smooth, Nice. Who’s over there with you?” He asked looking over at our table. “Lyla and Nicole,” I replied.
“Oh, you shoulda’ brought Roshay instead of Lyla. That female has no class at all. Ugh, she disgusts me,” He said wrinkling his face. I looked at his questioningly. “Reggie, that’s my friend. You can’t say that about her. Who are you to judge her? Take that back,” I commanded. “If you knew what I knew about her, you’d say the same thing. You need a new friend I know that much,” He said laughing and drinking more Gatorade.
“You are being real rude. Are you okay?” I asked wondering what was it he was concentration so hard on. He snapped and turned at me quickly. “Is something wrong with YOU?” He asked.
“No, Why you-”
“Well then, why you asking me that stupid question? Dang, females,” He mumbled turning back to where he was looking.
