okay i hope you like this part, i spent more time than i should of on this part but here it is. remember this is only FICTION!!!
Chapter 3
“Is it okay to be scared now?” Rika asked.
“Raven, did you close the garage door when we came in?”
“Ooooo… I know there was something I was supposed to do.”
“Raven?!” we all yelled.
“Im sorry!” she ran to press the button to close the garage.
“We gonna die cuz Rae didn’t close the door.” Druex complained.
“Um… fellas.” Jarell said scratching his head. “…There might be something out there. I aint sayin Im scared but uh…”
“Nigga you scared” Druex said under his breath.
“What?! I aint scarred. Im takin this like a man”
“Yeah Rell? You a man?” Monee pushed him.
“Yeah!”
“Your 100% man?!”
“Yeah!!”
“Then you go to the garage and see whats up”
“Naw… I cant go do that”
“Mario, you go out there and check it out please….” Raven asked sweetly.
Mario finished off his chips and the last bit of his soda and answered “yeah I aint scurred … but I need somebody to watch my back”
“Aww Mario!”
“For real! O, come out there with me, dog”
“Naw you not takin my man out there to go get killed on my birthday” my southern accent slipped as I said that. I clutched Omari’s arm again. “No! Naw. Uh uh. You not finna take ‘mari from me”
“Rashida? Ra ra? Let go of me aiight” O tried to calm me down but it wasn’t working.
“No! Nuh uh”
“Ill be fine”
“Your being selfish.” Rika tugged at my arm. “Let him go. Okay?”
I looked in his eyes. He didn’t seem to be worried. I figured he’d be alright and I kissed him, hugged him and whispered in his ear ‘I love you’
“Come on Ra. He’s not going to war. Lets go.” Mario complained.
“Look at me Ra” he grabbed me by my shoulders. “I’ll be right back” he laughed then hugged me. “I love you too”
“Can we go?”
“Shut up, Mario. You cant give you girl no love? “Raven reached to hug Mario.
“Luv ya girl. You know that ri?” Mario hugged her back
“Luv you too.”
“We’ll see you at the crossroads, crossroads, crossroads…” Rell started to sing
“So you wont be lonely!!” Druex joined in “Im gonna miss everybody….”
“Quit all that! They don’t mean that! They’re just playing. Everything is alright. We’re right behind you.” Monee said trying to make things easier as Mario and O went into the garage. They turned on the light and looked around. I sat at the table facing the other away because I couldn’t watch. Everyone else was huddled up at the door.
“You guys see anything yet?” Rika asked
“We’ll let you know. Im checking over by the bikes. O, you check behind the car.” I heard Mario tell Omari.
“Dont see nothing. You?” Omari yelled.
“Nothing to over here O “ Mario replied. See, ladies nothing to worry about” I heard Mario clap his hands together for a job well done. I let out a sigh of relief, turned to meet Omari at the door then heard Raven scream.
“Mario!! Behind you!” Rell and Druex were talking behind the kitchen counter and come to see what was happening. I ran half way to the door and stopped when I saw Omari behind the car stuck between the car and the garage. He was caught on something that was on our raggedy garage door. I looked for Mario and spotted him on his back and quickly turned away. I wanted to help O but I was frozen. I couldn’t move.
“HELP!! …shit…” he shouted. I stood there, staring. Druex rushed out to help free Omari.
"J, stay with the girls."
What was 5 second to everyone else was almost forever to me. A tall figure wearing black and a mask seemed to jump out of the shadows behind Omari and before he could move the masked figure snatched Omari by his long braids and threw him against the wall, knocking him out. O fell to the ground. Druex, not knowing what had happened, sped to the door thinking O was behind him
“Omar-…” Druex said as he got inside and looked back.
Whoever this was stabbed Omari in the back, kicked him, raised his knife and looked at me.
Raven ran into the living room crying. I was still standing there in shock. I watched the blood drop from his knife and on to Omari’s head.
I finally turned “Omari…" I moaned and started tearing up.
“Get away from the door!!!” Rika screamed and I unfroze. She came to shut and lock the door “ you want him to get in?” I broke down and cried harder. “Come on”
The killer banged on the door for a few seconds then stopped.
We sat in the living room. No one moved or said anything. Monee sat on the arm of the chair Raven was in, conforting her. Jarell and Druex sat across from each other and Rika sat next to me. I stopped crying but looked at my ring and started up again.
Druex sighed, “hey… look I tried and that’s all I could do. I know he’s gone but he wouldn’t want you to cry. He’d want you to get outta here and not get killed cuz you crying over him.”
“He’s not gonna leave till we’re all dead. The only thing we can do is get out of here.” Rell said.
I dried my tears, stood up and sat next to Raven. “ Tru. So we got to be strong. Raven you alright?” I could tell she was still in a daze from the whole situation because she didn’t start crying until I asked her if she was okay.
Raven sniffled and replied, “You trippin, ha. Im the strongest one here Im st8 its just he…” Raven started to brake up.
“ I know... Me too Rae… but we...” The sound of the garage door opening, cut me off. We looked at each other again.
“How did he open the garage without the code?”
“I don’t know” Our house has a high top security system that requires a code to even open the garage door. I could never remember the code so Rika always entered the code.
Just then the lights went out
“Stay still. I going to get a light” Rell blurted out “check the phone”
“Okay!” the phone was dead. Rell came back with the light.
“Lets go into Rikas room,” I suggested. Rika’s room was like in the middle of the house. The front door was right in front of her door, which is next to the kitchen. And she has an opening in her wall so you can see into the living room. In the living room there is a screen door, so in her room we’d be able to see everything. We all went to Rika’s room.
“Hey somebody should go get a cell phone that works. Rika your still phone work?” Monee asked.
“No. Im out of minutes.”
“I have a phone in my room but its charging” I responded.
“So go get it” I heard Rell insist.
“Uh… I don’t think so. Monee…”
“Uh uh. Its my idea”
“Fine. I’ll get it” I could see Rikas silhouette get up and kick me out of her way.
“Ouch”
"Oops.. didn’t see you there. I’ll be right back”
“Wait” Druex objected “your not going nowhere with out me. O said the same thing and…”
“We all know” Rika sighed, “We gotta be quick”
They left and we sat in the silence for like 2 seconds until.. “Hey Rashida! Its me Rell”
“I know you’re the only male left!”
“I catch your drift. I shoulda knew that but why don’t you watch the screen door and me and Monee watch the front door.”
“Okay Rell.”
I crawled over to the opening in the wall and sat next to Raven on Rikas couch. I thought about Omari and Mario and how I told them they shouldn’t of went when I remembered that I left my window open in my room.
“Rika!”
Raven shh’ed me and then I heard Rika scream.
