Subject: Rigoletto

I really enjoyed Rigoletto a lot more than I enjoyed La Traviata. I think that this is because the music in Rigoletto was for the most part very catchy and upbeat. An unfortunate example of this is that I have "La Donna e Mobile" stuck in my head, and I can't get it out. This did not happen with La Traviata, even with the drinking song.

As a piece of theatre I enjoyed Rigoletto more than La Traviata as well. In La Traviata, in the end I found myself thinking get it over with already, how many times do you need to die! But in Rigoletto I thought that I could understand what Rigoletto was going through, downtroden and outcast from the world, losing the only person he ever loved, scorned by his associates, and forced to hide his only child in his house so as to protect her. I felt that Rigoletto did not deserve to be put through such torment.

Another thing...I 'm just thinking but in Disney's version of the "Prince and the Pauper" I think that Mickey and Goofy sing a song to the tune of "La Donna e Mobile". Not sure though.
