I can't imagine you not being able to handle a grease gun.
It could be a cheap coupler (the end piece you push on the zerk)
Some are too tight and hard to push on, Some are too loose and won't stay on as you push the grease in.
If that is the problem, take it back and get a better coupler. A cheap grease gun is fine as long as you have a good hose and coupler.

P.S. If you have problems with getting on the inner ball joint on the outer tie rods, change the zerks from a straight one to a 90* zerk.
Makes it much easier for a one man grease job.
