Date Posted: 19:08:04 07/29/02 Mon Last week I stopped by the dealer again regarding a clunking noise they thought they had fixed during the first visit, it was never fixed. I rode with the svc. manager and a tech several times, we'd take it for a ride and go back to the bay to try shaking something else to duplicate the noise. He ended up putting rtv under the computer mount and the computer itself...no go. It sounds like a chunk of metal moving inside a plastic box most of the time (only happens over decent bumps and on rough dirt roads). Driving over bumps with either tire can cause it, but the right tire is mostly doing it. Could the hub be "loose" internally? The drive shaft seems solid going into the cv joint. Its not a hood hinge, both are tight. I pulled the bumper cover back and put adhesive foam behind it, same. He also said maybe the shock is fighting itself during rebound and the bushings aren't insulating it. I'm really tempted to say its something inside the big black housing bolted to the firewall with the ac/heater core in it, because I can feel the clunking when I grab the handle on the dash just above the pas. air bag...But, if its suspension, I'd probably feel it there, too. Any Ideas?? Thanks, Derek [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
