Author: Arthur and Lara
Subject: The Other Side of the Wild

The sun slowly began to peek up over the horizon and a new day was in it’s early stages. Summer had arrived and Arthur couldn’t help but crack a faint smile. This was the only season that lifted his spirits even when he was in the worse of moods. No matter how bad things had become in his life he could just take one look at the beauty of the wild life which surrounded him and use that to escape if only for a moment.

He had decided to wake up early and wash himself in the waterfall a few miles down from his dwelling sector. The waterfall tended to get crowded as more Primals began to rise from their slumber so usually it was best for one to get to it early so you avoided the aggraviation of having to wait on someone else or someone rushing you during you turn to cleanse your body. Arthur however did have a slightly advantage in the fact he was the unofficial leader of the Primals. Many times Lara, the red headed young lady with the thick British accent who had always been his childhood rival in all things and had now recently grown quite close to in adulthood, was constantly trying to convince him to assume the role of the leader of the Primals but he believed that this course of action wasn’t necessary. The Primals were their own leaders in many respects and he was proud of the fact they didn’t need one person in particular to lead them. Each person had their unique talents and used them for not only the betterment of their own lives but the betterment of the tribe as a whole. The Primals shared everything they had with each other so they always had a lot. Thus Arthur refused to play the role of Leader when in truth there was no need for one. And although Lara believed otherwise she respected his decision but still keep him informed of all important current events concerning their tribe.

Lara saw the limitless potential within Arthur. She knew how strong willed and aggressive he was and realized those and many other traits he had were classic traits of a great leader. In her view it would only be a matter of time before he took the position in the tribe he truly was destined to have, especially seeing as that they would be exploring the Western hemisphere of the forest. A part of the forest that still remained a mystery to them they couldn’t afford not to solve. The answers behind the secret of the virus, Arthur believed, wasn’t with his own tribe but with others. Just as him, Lara, and the other Primals learned from the animals and mother nature so they would also learn from other tribes. Knowledge was Power and with that power he would be able to find out the truth behind what happened to his tribe before they became a tribe and the virus in general. This was his Quest.

Reaching the waterfall, he slowly removed his clothing and leaped into the water with a loud SPLASH. The cool, crisp, clean water of the forest was heaven on earth. It was the simple things he learned that made life so worth living. Dwelling the forest made him realize that you could truly find peace within yourself if you would embrace nature and become one with the spirit of wildlife itself. Once that is achieved you can go from there recognizing what type of spirit you had within. Regardless of what spirit it was if you learned to stay true to it then it surely would stay true to you.

Arthur stood right beneath the waterfall, enjoying the feeling of the rushing water on his body. However he wasn’t alone. Lara, ironicly, had the same idea as Arthur in getting up before everyone else to bathe. Standing behind a nearby oak tree she peeked at her friend and her eyes widened as she gasped softly, “Arthur…” Suddenly it hit her like a ton of bricks. Arthur wasn’t the little boy she had grew up with he had become a young man and herself a young woman. She blushed slightly, embarrassed to see him completely in the nude but at the same time comfortable in the fact he was in his nature state. There was nothing vulgar or crude about it aside from the fact she had to hide behind a tree to keep from Arthur getting angry at her. Just then he called out to her, flinging his wet long golden hair back, “Lara…”

She was shocked but didn’t hesitate to come forth. There were no words spoken when their eyes made contact. Yet much to her surprise Arthur wasn’t upset. And before she knew it she was right by his side playing in the waterfall with her clothes off by the side of the waterfall next to his. And although the two weren’t children anymore, they were still young at heart and enjoyed each other’s company like they did so many other times before as children, splashing and playing in the water…
